Hollywood Lawrenceburg made me a Hollywood fan!

A quick primer on how this first time visitor to the state of Indiana arrived at Hollywood Lawrenceburg (H.L.)

H.L. was a last min addition to our "Midwest" vacation that was to originally include just a 3 night stop in Louisville (actually Horseshoe South Indiana) and a 3 night stop in Harrahs Joliet, Illinois. However once I realized that the 1st day of travel from Buffalo to Louisville would be over 9 hours, I decided to look into a way to shorten the trip. H.L. is right outside of Cincinnati Ohio, which is 7 hours from Buffalo, soooo 1st day travel is shortened by 2 hours.

Having never been to Hollywood Indiana (in Lawrenceburg), I decided to email a host from the list of hosts that their website provided ( plus I knew that I would at least show up in their system because of my play at their Marquee partner "M Resort" in Vegas) . A host named "Lauren" promptly got back to me and I was confirmed for a 1 night comp. Thanks Lauren/Jim!

Once we arrived at our hotel, I was impressed by how quickly they checked us in. Our room was non-smoking with 2 queen beds, lounging chair/ottoman, flat screen t.v. and it had a work desk and chair too! Bed actually slept very comfortably with both the wife and I commenting the next morning on how good we slept. Bathroom had plenty space too!

The hotel did not have a fitness center, however they did provide me a key fob to use 24 hrs a day at the local "Anytime" fitness center (approx 4 miles away) , which I did do Friday morning! Valet took a min to come out to the car when we first arrived, however it was obvious that they, valet guys, multi task when needed. They were perfect when we left the next day. Valet was free for us because we were staying in a comped room.

Casino was calling my name from the time I first walked in. Craps and VP are my games, and this CLEAN and SHARP casino did not displease at all. Craps table had a new bonus ( or 1 that I have never seen) called "straight shooter" (i. e. 3 numbers made pays 5-1, 4 numbers 9-1 and so on up to 10 numbers in a row). I hit it twice - once for 5 in a row and once for 4 in a row, with $5.00 on it. Plus some hard-ways. The win of the trip came later on that night on $1.00 VP Double Double bonus progressive when I drew to quad aces with the kicker for $2,000.00. I must say that the slot attendant who paid me seemed very happy for me! Wife was happy too as I gave her her standard 25% ($500.00) of my winnings. I was thrown off a little bit by a $66.00 reduction in my pay but that went to Indiana state taxes (oh well). The rest of the evening varied but the gaming night overall was excellent. I was also intrigued by an every "30 mins" promo in which they were giving away $250.00 dollars ( I believe that was the amount) randomly to 5 people who were playing with their players card. I believe that this went on from 6-10 pm the night we were there (nice promo)! we weren't used to paying for my NA beer nor was my wife used to paying for her Baileys and Coffee, but I learned that that is state law in Indy (no free booze). No problem!

We had a late meal ( that good gaming works up an appetite) at the "Hops 99" sports bar/restaurant. They must have had at least 40 t.v.s scattered around the place! Menu was decent. I had wings (I'm from Buffalo so I always try out wings at out of town locations...they were decent) and the wife had an asian salad that was rather tasty. My wife described a root beer type alcohol drink that she loves when we are in Buffalo, at the House of beers, to our server. Server put something together for her (with bartenders help) and it was "perfect" (so says the wife ). Food tasted even better when our server let us use both of our "1st time visitor $10.00 off food coupons" (that we got a the Marquee rewards desk when we signed up). Score 1 for the 1st timers. BINGO!!!

Another PLUS that I really like is that the hotel had coffee available, in their hotel lobby for free. 24/7. Checkout next day was a breeze.

I must admit this was my first time ever in a "Hollywood" casino /hotel (thanks to Lauren and Jim's generosity). I did make it a point to visit 2 other Hollywood casinos while traveling over the next 6 days. I visited the Hollywood Joliet and Hollywood Toledo (thanks again Lauren for another comp). All 3 Hollywood casinos had the same sharp and clean feel about them, and in 2 cases, they were smoke free too!

I'm sure that I will be back to Hollywood Lawrenceburg some time in the future. With hosts like Lauren, polite customer service, 24 hour fitness center access, $2,000 jackpots and 24/7 coffee, whats not to like??
it used to be Argosy Lawrenceburg, Hollywood gave it a nice make-over. it was always my favorite, followed by Caesar's Indiana (HSI). I have not been to either in many years, I pretty much just go to Indiana Grand (giant slot parlor + electronic table games) these days. it is a 40-45 minute drive instead of 2 hours. I am glad to hear that you liked them, I miss going to those old "boats". Hollywood's business fell off sharply when they opened the casinos in Ohio. did you happen to notice, do they still have a pai-gow table at the Hollywood?
Hollywood has been my go-to place for the last few years but I think I'm about to switch.

I just got back from Blue Chip casino in Michigan City....they have 20x odds craps....and 7/5 bonus poker with progressive.
