Horseshoe - S. Indiana

Anyone have info. on this property? Going for an overnight stay soon.

Dining options would be good to know, also if they are running any promotions (free buffet, etc).

Horseshoe SI is fine. The rooms in the hotel are old but most rooms have newer mattresses and flat screens. The hotel is connected to the casino by a half mile covered walkway. There are a couple of moving sidewalks and, if needed, a shuttle that can drive you most of the way.

The casino has four decks; deck one is non-smoking. The diamond lounge generally has hot food in the evening. Drinks are not free anywhere in the casino, however, the DL offers free drinks for a couple of hours on Tuesday and Thurs. evenings.

As for dining, there is a steakhouse, an Asian restaurant, a sports pub, and a Paula Deen's buffet. There is also a 24 hour cafe on the boat and a small cafe in the hotel. I don't think there are any promotions right now for free buffets.

Finally, be aware that the casino is in the middle of nowhere. The nearest town is 8 miles away.

Have fun!
We really like going to HS Indiana. It is 5 1/2 hour drive which is the negative. We have been there 4 times since fall just recently beginning of May. We usually each get 2 free buffets in each month after our first visit.

As stated, you have a pretty decent walk to the Casino. They have a walking track with exercize stations outside as well, and also a small exercize room near registration. They have an indoor pool with hot tub and an outdoor sundeck. You enter an elevator with room key on the second floor in the Hotel and take it slowly down 1 floor. The pool has never been very busy when we have been there. There are 2 parking garages, one at Casino end and one at the hotel. We like to park on the roof level at the hotel which brings you in a door right around the corner from registration. They also have valet at both ends.

We play video poker and they have pretty decent pay schedules on the 1st & second floors and also at the bars (.50).

They sometimes have multi points days for diamond & 7 stars. These are usually 7X but my husband once got 25X. They have Senior Wed.

Workers are very friendly. My husband had a birthday offer last time which we saw online, but he did not receive a mailer. It was for $10 gift shop & $10 food. Usually, you get nowhere at TR when you don't have your mailer. I told the lady how much we liked the place and that we brought some family members with us, a total of 5 of us. She gave me a $50 comp slip which we used for breakfast in the cafe. We also spoke to a host we met on a previous trip who my sister (a slot player) a $40 comp.

Good luck and have a great time!

Thanks for the info so far. We are VP players and hope they have 8/5 Bonus at the quarter level.

Another question - we will have a number of boxes with us in our SUV and do not want to leave them in the car overnight. Is the garage close to the rooms (so we can easily carry them in) or is there a better way to get them into the room?

Like Judy said, if you park on the roof of the hotel parking garage, you are just around the corner from registration and the elevators.
Sorry. Posted twice.
Thanks for the elevator advice. I saw the front desk being close, but was not sure about the room elevators. This should work out well!

Yes, they have plenty of 8/5 BP at the quarter level. they have the best vp of any casino in the state. the pool is nice if you go on a day it's not filled with brats. Weekdays are best. Louisville is a really fun city with plenty of attractions...also there are several outdoorsie type things nearby.

The buffet is good but it's Paula Dean. I hope you're not on a diet. they have a sports bar that serves up decent sandwiches and the like. I recommend it hitting up downtown Louisville for eateries. Google "bardstown road" and "4th street live". both are packed with great restaurants and shops
