Hotels in Tunica

I am thinking about taking my husband to Graceland as a birthday surprise in March. Would like to stay in Tunica as we have hundreds of comp dollars at Caesars properties and Boyd gaming. Which place has the nicest hotel? I don't care about pools, golf courses, or anything else except the quality of the room. We would be driving from northern Indiana so will have a car. I understand that Graceland is only about 30 minutes away, so that is why I think it would be a good idea. Just noticed that we have 5 nights comped at either Horseshoe or Harrahs as well as food credit and $325 in free play at either place. Are either of those hotels decent or is there a nicer one? Thanks for your help.
I would choose Horseshoe over Harrah's. The hotels at Harrah's are actually a shuttle bus ride away from the
casino - the shuttle is frequent but still a wait. There is one hotel adjacent to the casino but I have not stayed there.

I have not stayed at the Horseshoe but have heard good things about it. The plus side is it is walking distance
to 2 other casinos, the Roadhouse which is a Caesar's casino and the Gold Strike which is an MGM property.
I found the Horseshoe and the Gold Strike to have more updated slot machines if you play slot machines.
Do a search on this site for information on video poker and the other casinos. There is also a shuttle between the Harrah's casino and the Horseshoe.
I stayed at Horseshoe I think this is by far the best CET property, I stayed at Road house and it was filthy this was 2 years ago so things may have changed.
I am going back this summer and I think I will stay at Harrahs, it just looked interesting and it is free.
I stayed at Horseshoe and Harrahs. I like the horseshoe better since hotel is attached to the casino. I did not like taking a shuttle to hotel from casino at Harrahs. Rooms are same at each hotel.

You also mentioned Boyd points, so take a look at Sams. Stayed there 2 weeks ago and the rooms were in good shape. Opens directly into casino. For casinos, I like the shoe the best and will probably stay there next visit. Emerald at Boyd, so they good care of me. Diamond at CET, so they do too.
A couple points. We go to Tunica often. You have a car, the shuttle isn't your problem. Harrah's attached hotel is decent. The Horseshoe is the better of the two however. The buffet there is one of the finest you will find anywhere outside of Vegas in my opinion. A new chef took over last year and the improvements were quick and great.

If you haven't been to Graceland before you are in for a real treat. It's quite interesting. The tours are in three parts. There is the mansion, the planes and the museum. I wouldn't bother with the planes myself, but the other two are amazing. You really get a feel for how he lived and what it was like to be the king of rock and roll in 1972. Something else I found interesting. When you park in the lot there at the site across from the mansion, look at the license plates on the cars. If the lot is full, like it usually is, you may see nearly all 50 states represented. Never fails to amaze me how popular he remains after so many years.

Enjoy your trip. Thank you. Thank you very much. (with a southern drawl)
Thanks for the info. Is it necessary to buy tickets for all the tours before we arrive or can we just buy them when we get there? My husband was there 31 years ago, but the house wasn't open for tours at that time. He has always wanted to go back and as we are not getting any younger, thought this would be the year. We also want to go Lansky Brothers and the hotel that has the duck procession ( can't remember the name at this moment). Hope everything is easy to find as I will be the driver!
Road House has really nice rooms. Every room has a jacuuzzi in it.
My wife and I were at Graceland about 5 yrs ago; we bought our tickets when we arrived. Unless there is a special event or things have changed, you shouldn't have to buy tickets in advance.

Fun tip: If you have satellite radio (XM/Sirius), tune in to the Elvis channel when you get close to Memphis! We always do this on trips to Memphis/Tunica. They broadcast this channel from a studio at Graceland, which is near the ticket center.

Have fun!

Thanks . We do have satellite radio and listen to the Elvis channel frequently. Always interesting to hear how far people have traveled to visit the "shrine"!
