Hows Biloxi Nowadays?

Couldnt afford for everyone to make it to Vegas, so we are having my bachelor party in Biloxi.. Its not till February, but how are things looking there? Its been about 4 years since I was there last, and it was just re-opening after Katrina..
Whats the scene like?

Thanks!
Beau Rivage and Hard Rock are next to each other and will give you a Las Vegas type experience. The Grand is a mile down the road and is a HET property, it is dull and I would not use it without a good offer. IP is the largest in town and very popular but I rarely go there. Boomtown is a fun locals joint on the bay. There are a few other places with little to recommend.

The beaches are cleaned up and would be fine for walking most days in Feb. The seafood industry was badly hurt by the BP oil blow-out but may be back by Feb. The very good local restaurants are using imported seafood for now. I recommend having a car if you are going to casino hop. There is a city casino shuttle that is not dependable enough for me. Boomtown has a good free shuttle from Beau and HR.

For a bachelor party HR would be the best bet. Have fun
We were a Beau Rivage several weeks back...a great hotel and casino...table games are good but the lowest was $10. We had good luck on the tables & video poker. Several good restaurants...rooms are great. Pool area is really nice as well but in Feb. I'm not sure.

We took a taxi to the Harrahs property, The Grand. It's not a great casino but we've had a lot of luck there...when you're through playing ask the valet to get you a taxi...every time they offered their car service (a limo twice and an Escalade once) for just a tip to the driver...was a nice touch and it did keep us coming back. There are some $5 tables at the Grand. We have stayed at the Grand (last spring) and the rooms are comparable to a Fairfield. Beau R rooms are very very nice. The Beau was built by Steve Wynn as a prototype to Bellagio so the rooms, restaurants and public space are all very nicely appointed.

From Beau Rivage it's an easy walk to the Hard Rock less than 5 minutes...but we didn't spend much time there gambling...preferred to earn MGM rewards or Harrahs reward points.

We have tried the casino shuttle in the past but the schedule is anyone's guess...sometimes they show up on schedule and sometimes you wait a long time...but the upside is it's cheap - I think $.50 per person one way, maybe $.75. But if you have several going, a taxi is the best alternative. I think it was maybe $8 to the Grand. We rented a car last spring for a day...and drove around the area - not much to see. Unfortunately Biloxi & Gulfport haven't been built back like New Orleans...sad.

Thanks for the info.. Ill have a TR when we get back..
marko..

We go every February, so this is nearly a year old, but the Casino Hopper (frog painted on the side of the shuttles) were $1 per boarding then. I think there was some kind of discount if you had a medicare card to prove your age, but not sure on that. Nice collection of casinos---Palace, Isle, Boomtown, IPalace in addition to Grand, Beau, and HR. Stayed at Beau and the two within easy walking distance is nice. But Isle, Grand, and Palace are within a couple/three blocks of each other too, and BTown and IP are an easy walk from each other. Also Boomtown offered a shuttle that would take you to any of the casinos as well and it was free. We always enjoy the stay and look forward to this Feb. But like I say, the info is nearly a year old. Have a great trip.

Last time we went, it was right after katrina and everything was just in the "soft opening" phase. The Hard Rock had just reopened, but were asking $238 a night, which seemed really steep for Biloxi, hell, to me thats even way pricy for Vegas.. But we got a room at the Super 8 or Best Western, forget which one it was. It was right across from the Beau and we took advantage of the Boomtown shuttle. I remember really liking IP too.

Im looking forward to going back and getting my gambling fix, since we cant get to Vegas.

Marko..
we just got an offer for 3 nights with free air from BeauRivage/MGM for Feb. 5 thru 8. so we'll be going back. am looking forward to it. will try to check out other casinos other than Beau, hardRock & Grand. I saw were a player won a huge jackpot at the IP not long ago.

MGM is much better with free comps than Harrahs. Harrahs most times offers 1 free and the 2nd guest has to pay. MGM always offers 2 free airline tickets.
