I went to Harrah's Cherokee...

...and I actually won...$1100 when it was all said and done. HATE the "Lock and Roll" games and all their weird VP on all those old machines, but I made do with some "normal" dollar slots. Didn't plan on playing as much as I did but I was on a roll...I'd go down a bit and then shoot way up. It was one of those thrilling times when everything I touched was hitting. Weird...counters most of what I read about the place. Although, I LOVE the location. I imagine this is why HET keeps it. People will go here simply because the locale is beautimous.

I racked up 2200 points (I'm 724 away from Diamond...omg, I might actually get to enjoy a lounge or two when I'm in LV...I'll be a lounge virgin) and I thought this would be enough to get a room comped for the night. Nope. I had fun though and just ended up using my employee card to stay at the FFI&S across the street (working in Atlanta...didn't want to drive back last night).

The highlight of the night was when a lady asked me which machine she should play...being partial to three- and four-reel steppers I told her I was feeling a Blazing 7s Double Jackpot (prog.) -- she said it was "too rich for her blood" and I told her she should be adventurous with a $20... I left and 2 minutes later (as I walked out of the restroom in fact), I heard a scream. Look over...she hit the triple blazing 7s with the double jackpot on the fourth reel for $4600. Funnily enough, when I went to congratulate her she gave me the "i don't know you" face. Geez lady, I really was just congratulating.

ANYWHO...fun stuff.
Way to go on your win. That was funny, reading about the lady acting like she didn't know you. Gee, I would have slipped you some cash if you had pointed me in the right direction...............cheapo lady....
what a cheap tight-wad b-word.
if that had been me, I would have hugged/kissed you and forced a hundred in your pocket
Jeez...I was in AC one night with a friend of mine, and we were just about to go up to our room after getting our asses kicked at the Showboat. My friend said, "Before we go up, let's play some video poker." I knew very little about paytables at the time, so we found the nearest machines and sat down. On my next to last bet, I hit a royal. I gave him $200 of the $1k. If that had been me, I would have gave you a few hundred for making the suggestion.

Great win Dantex! Cherokee seems to be more of a "miss" than "hit" place for me. But, when it is on the "hit" mode it is great! I guess that goes for any casino. But, I absolutely agree that the locale is beautiful. The rooms are nice and if you have time to enjoy the mountains, lakes and streams it is great.

I have found that because this is the only place in town that the crowds can be unbearable on weekends. But, it is a different place all together on a weekday. Overall, I have been a loser there. But, on VERY poor payscheds I did manage to hit 3 royals within 24 hours on different machines/denominations.

I am sorry about the ol'fart. There do seem to be strange ones there. We sat next to guy that was winning on STP, spin after spin. We tried to congratulate him on many of his wins and he wouldn't acknowledge us jerk.

Glad you won :D
and I wasn't even wanting any dough. I really just wanted to do a positive-karma "I told you so" and congratulate her... I thought it was weird but I'm just glad when people win. I did notice that they were asking her for her Social Security Card though...hmm...

Yeah, if I go back (not likely unless they give us full RFB), we'll stop in so we can explore the area...I'm from Houston...a mountain for us is a speed hump.
Thanks Dan for the report. Congrats on the win. Harrahs Cherokee is my home casino as I live 35 miles away. I don't have much luck there so am happy to hear of someone winning there. I normally go there 3-4 times a month mainly to cash in my cash back and play a little VP.
This is my home casino as well. I usually get a room comp but I try to go every month for the cash back, Overall not a winner here but frequently enough that I keep going back. Biggest complaint they don't have a single good VP paytable that I can find. It is pretty location for a casino. Congrats on the great win, and boohiss to the mean one.
Best quarter VP is one machine with 9/5 JB and one machine with 7/5BP. Also 8/5 JB with 150 coins for 4oaks with 5 coins
I usually get mailings for free rooms, don't play much $ nor win much $ there. The people there (employees) are very nice and the drive up there is great! The restuarants are "okay". I have had one winning trip, but usually lose my money VERY quickly. Congrats on the winnings!
