Overnight at Harrahs Cherokee TR

Took a 24 Road Trip to Harrahs Cherokee Saturday Night. A Few Observations:
- The resort really is nice. Lots of room, clean, well staffed, big rooms and the indoor pool is a bonus.
- Casino was incredibly crowded Saturday night. No chance of getting a seat at a $10-$15 BJ or Craps Table, so I spent most of my time and money at the $25 tables.
- No free booze, but you can buy a cocktail for $5 at the tables. Quick service too. (However, we prepared and brought a cooler for the room and a flask for the casino).
- If you are a golfer, I highly recommend playing at Sequoyah National. Its only 5 mins from the casino (they do have a local shuttle available for a few bucks). Its a fun, challenging mountain course.
- Scored free tix to see Moody Blues just by hanging out at the Box Office.
- They have some good food offerings (a big buffet, Ruth Chris, Brio), but the casino being so crowded meant we opted for the food court.
- All in all a fun trip to get my gambling fix till Vegas in May.

Pros:
Sequoyah National Golf Course
Indoor Pool
Big Rooms
Used Points for a Free Night

Cons:
Only big Casino close to Atlanta, so it was slammed.
High minimums
Valet took forever

Just to add----Harrah's Cherokee Valley Casino is in Murphy, NC---this is about an hour closer to Atlanta.
Just opened last September----
It is 2 hours from my front door from the NW side of ATL. Easy day trip---TOO EASY---

We tried it a few months ago and not impressed. Small with fewer tables and super tight slots. There was no "wow" factor at Valley River. No cool bar or lounge or just something that sticks with you. I heard they are already in preparation for another casino floor, so Ill wait till that opens before going back.

I'm just saying, it isn't a bad place to go. It's clean, 2 hours from my house, don't have to drive thru Nantahalla Gorge in the winter, and cuts off about an hour and a half drive for me.
They tell me that the bar is going to be converted into a VP bar in next phase, why not from the start, I'll never know.

I've made 3 x 2 hour hit and runs, and I am up @$800. This give me a "fix" between Biloxi and Las Vegas trips, and so far, has helped the bankroll.

In fact, I'm headed to Vegas in about 2 hours---

I agree about the drive. Easy 2 hours from me (Smyrna, Ga). I may need another trip, maybe on a weekday when its not so crowded.

Cheers and good luck in Vegas!
