Revel Memorial Day Weekend

Stayed elsewhere but visited the property for the first time this weekend. I want to add to the comments of others and say this place is breathtakingly beautiful. IMO it rivals the finer and newer hotels of Vegas. I got the feeling that I was in a more sophisticated and larger version of the Cosmopolitan in Vegas. I love the Cosmo and the aesthetics and size of Revel are, IMO, more grand but in an elegant way.

The energy this weekend was off the charts as Beyonce was performing the entire weekend, christening what was the official opening of Revel. Lots of special events going on, great live music, and beautiful people, machines and decor everywhere.

I felt a little like a mouse in a maze given the hotel's design, but, other than that, I'm sold. Even got the scoop for big brother Champster on the poker room, which has a range of games, including 2/4 Limit.

In another thread I noted that I had received an offer for 2 comped nights even though I had not yet set foot in the place. Well, I waited too long to book. The offer was only good through mid-June and even though it was extended by a couple of weeks, all of the weekend comp rooms via this offer are gone, which is a little upsetting because I DO believe this place is going to be booked with PAYING customers through the summer -- or heavy duty players getting comped rooms -- as the concert line up alone will bring paying customers there. Barry Manilow is there September 8 and I'll be there for that concert as I'm bummed I never saw him in Vegas, but among the July headliners is Seal and there was a major performer for many upcoming weekends based on the calendar that I saw.

For the comped offer, only Monday through Thursday remain and I have to earn a living so unfortunately I can't take advantage of this offer, which is a real bummer. I was thinking about taking a Friday off so I could at least stay there one night -- a Thursday -- and get a late checkout on Friday so that I can experience the room.

I'll probably get a comped offer in the Fall when the fabulousless and fun that is the AC boardwalk in summer is gone but I'd really love to enjoy it now.
Please share the poker room info, either here or in a PM.

BTW, was the "private" beach ready yet. They were doing a lot of work on it last month and my family does enjoy the shore in the summer. Thanks.
Hey Prof,

Happy to share Poker Room info. I got a sheet with the various tournaments on it but I'm traveling already for a few days for work. When I'm back home I'll share it.

I asked about games, specifically Limit, and I thought the games would start at a higher level; I was surprised they have 2/4 as that is something that is within my budget and play level.

The room has a high hand; the amount ticks up and was posted on an elegant electronic board. I'm sorry I can't remember the amount but it I'm pretty sure it was at least $10k. It keeps going up until it hits. I asked if the high hand changes and was told no, it's always quad 10s.

Bunch of massive cranes were on the beach; they are still working on it but it should be fabulous when complete.
Quick impressions MDW :

- credit office was madness, and I was 'attacked' by a host
- credit approved and opened within 2 hours (which is long, but you have to consider they were buried); and I was sent a text message by the host (nice)
- only played craps. Impressions were very positive. Dealers, great. Cocktail service, great. Nice glassware, no problem with Grey Goose or Ketel at the tables. Champagne is a domestic sparkling, Chandon; decent stuff. Champagne flutes are very delicate.
- had a table rating of just under $300/average bet for 4 hours. Now, here's the really bad part... points were horrible, earned less than half of what I would earn at Borgata
- Good news, perhaps? Host promised he would take care of me. Also promised to bring me back for a weekend in the summer, no problem (we shall see). Quite frankly, I love the place; but if their comping is that low; that will be major issue.

Other items, my wife+ 17 year old daughter loved the Beyonce concert on Saturday night (the same night that Michelle Obama and the girls were in attendance).

We also really enjoyed our dinner out at ONE; and my wife tried the Mexican food truck with a friend (comp); said it was great.

That's all for now!

Great reviews Bac Guy. I didn't attend the concert that night but that same night I was playing in the casino and enjoying a great live band on the first floor in the new club area. I am impressed with the security as I only discovered the Obama ladies were at the concert when I watched the news the next morning. I have a brother who works in a very high end security environment and I was trying to figure out how they got them in and out with the craziness of that night. Was also thinking Beyonce and baby girl must have been staying overnight a few days. Security in that hotel must be off the chart but it didn't feel that way. It felt like any other casino-hotel environment.
