Showboat Diamond Lounge

I thought I'd use my two free Diamond Lounge passes for September at the Showboat, since Al decided he'd come to AC with me. Well, let me tell you my absolute SHOCK, that the lounge has NOT been upgraded! The best vodka that you can get is still Absolute. The food -- the same. Possibly there was an additional meat entree but the peops I was with that eat meat -- it was just okay. The fish dish looked bad and my friend said it was dry. Same pizza, same bowl of tuna out (at least you could make your own sandwich). Yeah, the server asks if you want a shrimp cocktail. Three little shrimp in a small glass. Big deal.

If TR expects to compete with the Borgata, they are just plain stupid. How about regulating the temperature in Bally's so it's not 100 degrees all the time? How about sending a cocktail waitress around once in a while at Caesar's? How about eliminating the annoying two person cocktail service at the SB?

Total Rewards just keep downgrading and downgrading in AC. I've pretty much written them off, so I don't care that much but I just thought I'd relate my experience. Possibly the other lounges are nicer and I'll probably check out one of them with my free passes for October but after that if I earn any comps for Total Rewards, I'll be using them at a coffee shop.
that is shocking... Stu, Lou and I went to SB DL last spring-- it was FANCY-dancy-- cloth table clothes- a carving station, amazing pork loin, a fish dish- choices choices choices and this was BEFORE they charged! so I am shocked about your shocking experience.
No consistancy- did you go at lunchtime maybe??
We'll be in AC this weekend - will check out Bally's DL for the first time since the "upgrade"...

Was it crowded at SB? Go to any of the other DLs?
There were periods when the DLs in AC would be better than other times, before they started to charge for entrance.

I have no RCs to pay for the DL so I haven't been in any others since they started to charge. I'm doing the Great Race and was thinking that $600 in comps would get me into a DL any time I wanted. I just assumed that they were upgrading (because that is what they said they were going to do) and I think that is why I was so shocked. I can't justify the charge if I'm just running in and out. I think I'll just bring a sandwich or get something on the way down.

I can't believe some of the business decisions that CET is making in AC. There is no incentive to play there -- none of the casino floors are nice, the drink service is poor and the offerings are poor, they don't have a variety of decent VP and the comp rate gets you nothing, unless there is a promotion.

The only improvements at the Showboat DL were the shrimp cocktail, no crowds & no line to get in.
Kip,
How could CE hand out the Great Race RC's before the deadline of Sept. 30th?
I'm shotting for 6 different locations so wouldn't they wait til you've swiped as many as possible- you have yours NOW?!?
I have found little change in the CET diamond lounges. The main change is that they now usually offer a chicken dish, a fish dish and a carved meat station. The fish dish I most remember right after the change to charging a fee to enter was a big bowl of lobster mashed potatoes with HUNKS of lobster, full claws and hunks of tails served at the Caesars diamond lounge. I was amazed. On a recent visit (last week)they served a broiled cat fish (basically cat food in my book). But, they did have a good carved lamb roast. Yummy.
This new structure is totally geared towards mid-high level diamond members. If you have 25,000 pts there is no charge for entry. It's still where I go to eat when in town or to even get a cup of coffee and a piece of pie...I don't drink too much. The food is marginally better but not like what it was initially. I'm sitting on $1,000 in comps because I just don't use them. Food is free, I won't pay for a hotel room, I'm not into shows enough to pay for one (I'll go to a free one) and I may get a massage every other month.
As for Borgata. Their $10 comp deal is a MUCH better bargain. But that you have to get 5 comp points in order for your play to register and that it's harder to get comp points at Borgata means that it's harder to get those $10 in comps. For the $10 in comps you get at Borgata you may have well earned $20 at CET where every dollar you put in the machine goes towards a comp.
Stu
Stu, you can buy gift cards or Airfare etc with all those comp dollars, can't you?
I seem to use mine quicker & quicker, since I started getting hair treatments at
Paris spa.I"m down to $10 in my CE acct. Those Race to Reward comps can't come fast enuf! lol

Log on to your CE acct. and look up how to redeem those comps.
You might be surprised, and spending them for the holidays!

Thanks for the ideas, CLV. Last Fall I purchased an iPad at Caesars-AC's Mac Store. Total cost to me was $.43. Yes, 43 cents. I'll eventually find something to use it on but only getting $.50 on the dollar annoys me. It means I'm really only getting 0.05% back in comps instead of 0.1%. I want my whole casino experience (including free rooms and diamond lounge meals) to equal my full 100% cost. That is my downfall in others being able to put up with me; I want my full 100% and it sometimes makes me look cheap. In actuality, I'm far from it...outside of the gambling game.

I alway thought of you as extra smart and savvy-- you know the system and get as MUCH as possible from it and are not willing to settle-- I say GOOD FOR YOU.
I think most of us have inside "dos and don'ts"-- I don't as a rule, get room service coffee but CLV thinks of it as a "do-able" b/c she loves to putter in her room in the mornings- that's her resting/plotting/nesting time.
I learn from everyone- the folks here keep my mind alert and open to what i might be missing.
It pays (for me) to remain teach-able..
