Solo Atlantic City trip 8/8 - 8/11/2011

I have a chance to do 3 nights in AC with flight from Boston and a stay at either Bally's or Harrah's for $299. I'm thinking Bally's is more in the middle of the action but Harrah's rooms seem much better. Any advice/opinions would be most appreciated.
with Bally's comes Caesars- and don't discount "The Ridge" which is Claridge--they tried to "hip" it up some... Bally's has nice rooms too... yes, Harrah's are more updated but I don't like being stuck there AND I don't like Harrah's wide barn-like casino floor AT ALL..
Bally's can be dirty and junked up- but they have made changes recently, placed in newer machines and you can MOVE around to Caesars and wander down to Resorts, Taj, Showboat on a whim.

I need a backdoor(with an Ocean Boardwalk view if you please) - Bally's would be my choice
Harrah's is the nicer of the two properties - it has the Pool which is a dome covered pool area that at night doubles as a club and haven for the young and obnoxious. Bally's is a sprawling property with three distinct casino areas: the Wild Wild West, the Claridge and the Park Place casinos. Bally's rooms probably also have the most hit or miss potential. (some of the rooms in the Claridge Tower leave a lot to be desired.)

Bally's is definitely right in the middle of the Boardwalk. Caesars is right next door and Trump Plaza is right next to Caesars. Caesars has the Pier shops - or if you prefer, there's the Walk on the northwestern side of Bally's.

Without a car, you're a little more remote at Harrah's. There's a walk path that winds over to the Borgata and you can walk over to the Golden Nugget as well. (not easily though.) Otherwise, you are dependent on the Total Rewards shuttle, the jitneys, or a taxi to get to the Boardwalk.

I'm with Jeanne-Marie on the casino at Harrah's. To me it always feels cramped and has low ceilings.
Thanks for the help. I think I will do Bally's and shuttle over to try Borgata and Harrah's if the mood strikes

what Flip said is right on-- but I have gotten a corner jacuzzi room which was loaded w/ windows and a 4 person jacuzzi w/ ceiling mirrors (yes I was alone) in the Claridge-- very hit or miss... but the elevator wait will drive you crazy batshit there..
