VP fixed in NY State Casinos (racinos)! How can this be??

I am on a little 3 day trip (conference) in Ithaca NY. I noticed that they have a racino nearby in Tioga Ny (Tioga Downs). I figured it was similar to the racino near Buffalo which I frequent often in Hamburg (Hamburg casino). I like these places because they have full pay 9/6 JOB, 9/7 double bonus, 8/4/bonus and deuces wild VP. As I sit in my conference (laptop in tow) trying not to fall asleep listening to the speakers from Oswego county, I thought that I would look up some info on VP at the Racinos to find out what was avaiable at Tioga Downs. To my surprised I found the following when I goggled VP in NYS casinos.

What this article basically says (and I verified later on thru other sources) is that VP at Empire casino, and other racinos in NYS, have the same payouts as all other slots - 92% - regardless of the paytable on the machine. They have NO RNG (Random number generator) but are programmed the same way slot machines are! Your win/lose is determined not by your strategy but predetermined by a machine in Albany NY

I think that really sucks but at least it explains why I can't hit the Royal at the Hamburg racino.

I'm now wondering if VP on online gaming sites like Bookmaker are run the same as the racinos.
I sure would appreciate any feedback on either!!
Champster, It's bad news in New York. The machines are all VLT's (Video Lottery Terminals). You are playing a lottery game, not a card game. I haven't been to the casinos in or near New York City and I won't, on any regular basis. I want to go to Aqueduct Racetrack just to see what they have done, but I won't drop more than a few bucks in their machines.

I have read that if you are dealt a winning hand, you can throw it away and you will still get paid since the lottery game has determined that the hand is a winner. I wonder if anyone out there has seen this happen?

New York also doesn't publish any win percentages in Casino Player. However, the Aqueduct Raceway casino has been jammed since it opened and they are going to double the size of the gaming floor. I guess there still is one born every minute!

Of course, in that 92% payback, there are still going to be some winners and some Royal Flushes. I hope my short Aqueduct visit falls quickly into the 92% so I can walk away a winner and never go back.

Damn..how dissappointing Thanks for sharing NED!
I used to play at the one in Vernon until I found out about the video lottery terminal thing. If you get dealt say 3 of a kind and throw it all away you will still get 3 of a kind on the draw. I did see a woman hit 2 royal flushes a few hands apart one night while playing though. Stick to seneca Champster.

Dont worry, Champ, you are not the first person to make that mistake. I recall seeing those machines and getting excited the first time I saw them too. Do some reading on Class II vs Class III machines.

Seneca Niagara has real video poker and free drinks...there was a time when the schedules were decent too although I think that is not the case anymore. Have not been there in a couple years....
I've seen it happen when you should win, but you get rid of the winning hand a genie comes out and changes the cards on the screen. That's when we knew there was something not right about theses games. We researched and found out that we won't be back to the Saratoga racino for vp.

Love Seneca, but too far for a short trip...

I have tried to explain this to people on the AC bus and co-workers..
they do NOT understand about the Lottery Terminals , nor Class ll vs. class lll machines. One woman at work said "but it's only 10 minutes from my home!"
Ok then, shrug , knock yourself out.. pearls before swine
A few years ago, we played at the racino in Saratoga Springs.

Though we knew the VP wasn't "real" - it was fun playing, seeing the genie/fairy float over cards occasionally - and change them!

Yes, you can throw away any winning hand, and get another of the same type.

It gets to be a little ridiculous, and you just kinda laugh after awhile.

Didn't play too long, but was told to toss all dealt straights and all dealt flushes. in hopes of getting a staight flush.
