Comedy clubs in Vegas

The last time we went to a Comedy Club in Vegas it was at the Riviera. Thinking about going to one in March and looking for some opinions. Do the half-price tickets places typically sell tickets to these? Any specific recommendations, especially best-bang-for-the-buck wise? Thanks for all replies.

The top tier, no, you probably won't find half price tickets to those. But you will easily find halfsies for the second tier shows. I hesitate to go any further than that because three months from now, everything will be different. I went to a show at Harrah's and didn't like it at all...it was, in a nutshell, unfunny. Then I went to a show at the Four Queens, and it was hysterical. I don't think you can really predict what your experience will be like.

Given the variation in experiences and the fact that you can get lousy comedians in top-tier joints and great comedians in dust joints, I'd definitely go for the discounted tickets.

"Comedy Club" brings to mind the one or two-man stand-up show types, not the top rung stars like Ron White (is he still alive?), Ray Romano, Carrot Top, etc.  But I admit not having been to one in years.  IMO even the least of those were entertaining if not belly-laugh funny.  Harrah's used to have good ones, most often nobody you'd ever heard of doing the stand-up, but low price and well worth the time.  Tip the guy at the door a $10 and you'd get a better seat.  ( As for Harrah's, I wouldn't be surprised if "Defending the Caveman" put their comedy club out of business...the only really lame/awful one I ever saw.  LOL, and JMHO.)

Today I have no idea where any are playing like in the 'old days.'  Brad Garrett (of "Everybody Loves Raymond") had a comedy club a few years back (MGM? Trop?) and I intended to try to catch a show when he would be doing the act but never made it.  Not sure if he or his cc are still in action.

Yes, Ron White is still alive and performing.

Thanks, David Miller.  Ron's schtick was funny at first, but as I've aged his brand of humor has become a little 'raw' for my taste.  JMHO.

I agree - his current brand of  "humor" is not what it used to be.
