Went to this show last week and left very disappointed.
They advertise the show as a chance to get close to some big cats and the advertising has him surrounded by several large tigers.
The show was listed as starting at 7PM and we arrived at 7:05, just as he took the stage.
His first trick has a rather lengthy intro and involves putting an assistant in a box and after a long pause, the box is opened and out pops a white tiger. The showroom is very, very small so everyone in the room is no more than fifteen-twenty feet away as Dirk walks the tiger around the stage. Very promising start.
Next up is a seven minute video on how he trains his tigers, and other such fluff.
Then comes a trick where he puts an assistant into a glass box, covers it with a cutain, and takes it away to reveal an angry panther., which is wheeled off the stage in the glass cage.
Thats it for the cats. The rest of the show is gag magic tricks, card tricks and a silly segment where he pulls a kid from the audiance, dresses him like Harry Potter and then stands behind him as the kid appears to do magic .
At 7:47, he thanks everyone and starts to push you to purchase his items. Five minutes or so later, you realize the show is over and people start to wander out.
His magic acts are okay, just not enough of them and if you came to see Big Cats ,as I did, you'll leave very disappointed. He is also lacking much of a stage presence- which is really what makes or breaks a one man show.
In almost ten years of shows, this was by far the lamest I've been to.
