Disappointed: Santa Fe Chrome Room/Richard Elliot & Norman Brown concert

We had tickets to see Richard Elliot & Norman Brown in the Chrome Showroom at the Santa Fe Station in May. I was so excited to get 2nd row seats since Richard Elliot is one of my all time favorite smooth jazz sax players. But we were disappointed.

First, I wasn't familiar w/the Chrome stage & seating. Had I known, I might have chosen our seats differently. The stage sits in a corner that is about 6+' up. The 1st row seats are fairly close, maybe 6' from the stage. For us, it was too close to really enjoy the concert w/the speakers & the band right there.

Second, my husband heard several guys in the restroom talking about how bad some of the settings were (I'm not musically inclined so I'm assuming they meant the sound system, speakers, instruments etc). Which might be part of the reason why the music/band just didn't sound right. There was also some vocals that really sounded off (bad mic system/setup), which was really sad as the one young lady was Norman Brown's daughter that had just graduated from college that month. From what we could hear it sounded like she had a nice voice.

I thought the showroom would be like the one at the Las Vegas Hilton where we saw the Righteous Bros., Kool & the Gang etc. So next time I will know that if we ever go back to this venue we will get seats in the back - it has to sound a lot better than up so close to the stage.

These entertainers deserve better because they're great musicians - especially Richard. So I'm sure we'll give him another chance and hopefully next time we'll see him, it will be somewhere else - a better venue.
Forgot to ask - was anyone else there that night? Just curious what you thought or what your experience that evening was like.
