Empty Showrooms &...THE RUMORS!

Lots of changes a comin'...
What we KNOW is...JERSERY BOYS are headed for PARIS,
BLUE MAN GROUP will end up in the MONTE CARLO,
PHANTOM is just going away after an AMAZING 6 year run because today's economy just
can't support this VERY EXPENSIVE Show any more.

So now we got the...RUMORS!

1.) VENETIAN: 'ROCK OF AGES' may very well follow the MEN IN BLUE...

2.) VENETIAN: 'SPIDERMAN' is a good possibility to replace PHANTOM...

3.) PALAZZO: 'PRICILLA, QUEEN OF THE DESERT' is likely to take over for 'JERSEY BOYS'...
(Pricilla WHO?...OF WHAT?)...lol, this was a new one for me too. Got the tip from Mike Weatherford's
RJ collumn. It's a musical comedy about drag performers on a road trip with songs from
Madonna, The Village People and more!

4.) The PLAZA: 'BEST LITTLE WHOREHOUSE IN TEXAS' is going in the vintage showroom that the 'RAT PACK'
Show was in (now at the RIO). It will be an early 5pm Show, and ready to go my March (so they say...)

5.) ARIA: 'VIVA ELVIS' will leave the building and another good rumor is...it might be replaced by
CIRQUE DU SOLEIL's...'ZED'. 'ZED' is reported to be an amazing acrobatic Show, now working in Japan, but
due to their economy after the eArThQuaKe, tsunami and nuclear disaster, it's coming over here.
In fact, some of the Artists have already been incorporated into the 'new' MYSTERE along with a completely
'new' music score which re opens Feb 11th...I'll see it next month along with saying 'good-bye' to PHANTOM.

NO RUMOR HERE...Coming in March, the new 'SMITH CENTER FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS' opens! www.thesmithcenter.com
It's off Strip, West side, towards Downtown and going to be VERY COOL. It will have the BIG theater, plus
a smaller 'jazz' venue for smaller performances. CLINT HOLMES will work there the first Friday of every month
along with a great variety of other performers.

I'll be reporting on the two showrooms, various locations to sit, prices (which are affordable!) and any other
helpful info that will help make this experience a good one!
So far I've booked 'COLOR PURPLE', 'The PINK FLOYD EXPERIENCE', 'MEMPHIS', and 'MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET'.
Coming late Aug. thru early Oct.....'WICKED'!
Check out their website...there's all sorts of wonderful Shows and performers coming!

Sooooo BRING IT ON! 2012 is going to be lots of fun for show goers in the ever changing LAS VEGAS.
Pricella(?) Queen of the Desert...seen this movie a few years ago on drag(?) tv cable channel. I wonder if this is the same...
I bet it is 'sundrop6'. I've been seeing lots of info from around
the boards on this...SOUNDS PRETTY FUN!
Seem like the people that run the Palazzo/Venetion have their heads where the sun don't shine.Thought Jersey Boys and Phantom were popular shows.Am I the only one that feels Vegas may be "cirqued out" ?Just thinking out loud.

Hey Greg, have you seen the Rat Pack show since it moved?Areyou aware of any discount tickets at the Tix4tonite outlets?
Thanks

My teens are coming with me to LV in July, we do this every other year. No one loves LV more than my teens, and they don't get in anyone's way at the Orleans. That said, they've been dying to see Blue Man Group. I real glad to hear it may move to the Monte Carlo! I've not gotten them tix in the past as I don't want to see it (too much noise, Noise, NOISE) but I simply cannot stand the SMELL in the Venetian! I think I'm allergic to it....and I don't want to hang around in the Venetian casino waiting for them to see the show.

So...maybe I will luck out and it will be moved by July!
Thanks!
diane

ps I LOVE the Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, bet that one will be fun!
BLUE MAN IS...moving to the Monte Carlo Diane, I simply don't
remember when but I don't think it's as early as July...they're busy
re building the Monte Carlo showroom still.
Call the Venetian and ask...1.877.583.6423
I've heard from VVN, the smell at the Venetian has been reduced significantly.

I'm not Greg, but I've seen the show since it moved to the Rio. Still basically the same show, though they've scaled the size of the orchestra back. I think there were three saxes, two trumpets and a trombone. Seems to me I've seen it with three trumpets and two trombones and, to a musician, those missing voices mean something.

The room is OK, but I just think that show belongs in an old-school showwoom.

The problem with the show is that I guess a lot of the good bits must have belonged to Sandy Hackett, because when the show split off, it seems a lot of the funnier bits went to that show. You'd think that a musician wouldn't care, but I think the "Joey" character is critical to the show and that role has been scaled back a lot in this iteration. (Yes, I've seen the show too many times...)

Still worth seeing, especially since you can easily get half-price tickets.

Well I guess that answers that...
That RIO showroom has always been a favorite of mine... I've seen so many
different acts in there.
I thought RAT PACK worked fine even with the smaller orchestra and the room
really helps the Platters/Coasters Show...it looked real good.
Thanks for the replys everybody. Will definetly see show nexttime I'm in town.
