Would like to see the Grand Canyon while out in Las Vegas this coming week. We have a rental car so don't want to pay for a tour. Is our best option driving to the "north rim" Skywalk area? Plan on seeing Hoover Dam also, so that seems on the way. Are there any other areas or better options?
The Skywalk attraction is on the west side of the Grand Canyon and is the closest to Las Vegas. It is owned by an Indian tribe and is quite expensive from what I understand.
Going to the North Rim is not an option this time of year as it closes for the winter.
The South Rim is a pretty long drive from LV, around 4-5 hours. If you have never been there, it is worth the trip. When we have friends in town, we stay at Laughlin for two nights to shorten the day's drive to about 3 hours.
