Louie Anderson - dead from Cancer at 68

He had a long running production show on the strip.   After he lost the big venus he was performing in a very small room at Palace Station for awhile.  I saw him there a few years ago.   The room held about 50 people in total so everybody was close to the stage.

I always enjoyed his performances on TV and the movies...but his live show in Vegas was a little undewhelming.   Got the feeling his heart wasnt in it.  He was just paying his bills  =)

But still a nice and funny guy.  RIP

That's pretty much classic Vegas--a performing artist plays out the end of his career, with smaller and smaller audiences. Many's the time I've seen somebody's name on a marquee in Vegas and thought, "Isn't he dead?" Of course, being dead is no obstacle to being a Vegas performer.

The Orleans used to have these kind of acts in their showroom (still a decent-sized venue) all the time. I saw Gordon Lightfoot and Eddie Money there about 20 years ago, and both shows were terrific. The performers still "had it," albeit with the technological, acoustic, and electronic support that's available these days.
