Sounds about right. You have to wait for it to end to get the really good room deals. There's about a two week period afterwards when Vegas turns into a tomb.
I didn't pay any attention to when it starts but we arrive on the 15th because it ends on the 14th.
We have stayed for many years at the Orleans. It is always the first Thursday and lasts 10 days.
I have found that most years it has been easy to get and book rooms. I am not sure why this year it was not available even in June. I think it might be because of the RUBY card changes.
Quite a few dates in March 2020 were blacked out because of the BIG convention that will be in town.
