Donny and Marie are entertainers and not performers. I use the distinction and classify them along with Paul Anka, Tom Jones, The Scintas, Clint Holmes in that they bring you into the show and get you involved. It is an incredible experience. I've seen performers who just get up there and sing each song and then leave the stage. With Donny and Marie you are included in the show with them and feel like you've known them forever. Whether a fan or not, it is definitely a show worth seeing as they are both tremendously talented individuals and you will come away with a great feeling after seeing the show. By the way, I am not a "fan" either, but I loved their show.
I realized the distinction between entertainer and performer when I saw Paul Anka at the Hollywood Theater at MGM. A women was taking a photo during the show (a definite no-no) and an usher went to stop her. When Paul Anka saw this, he went up to her, said "Did they tell you you couldn't take a photo?" and proceeded to take the camera and take a picture of the two of them together. He then began singing "Good Morning Yesterday" and told the audience that he made so much money from Kodak for that song, there was no way he would stop people from taking photos. As he sang the song he walked around the audience and anyone who had a camera with them, he would pose with them and take the photo. That is an entertainer!
But I digress. Donnie and Marie are the same type of entertainer and you will love their show.
