'The RAT PACK is BACK' moving into The RIO

'The RAT PACK is BACK' Show is moving from the downtown Plaza
to the RIO's CROWN THEATRE and opens Monday, June 13th, 8:30 showtime.

This has all the makings of a very good move...
The CROWN THEATRE in RIO's Masquerade Village has been the home for
The SCINTAS, DANNY GANS, and RONN LUCUS...it's a GREAT showroom, easy
to get to, easy parking, and should be a great fit for The RAT PACK is BACK!

Tickets are aprox. $62 Gen'l, $73 VIP, and $95 Gold Circle from the RIO box office.
Discount tickets from the usual vendors around town 'should' be available also, but
no confirmation in regards to them yet...
Is it me, or does $60 or $70 seem WAY too much for that show, especially summer in Vegas.

Half that price.... is okay, but not great. I'd want to be below $25.
I tried to get a tic when I was there a few days ago...tics aren't
on sale for July yet.
I walked through the showroom...it's going to be 3 ticket prices...
Tables on the floor = GOLD CIRCLE
Booths on the 2nd level = VIP
Booths on the upper level = GEN'L
It's all first come/first serve seating. NO RESERVED SEATS.
Sound has always been good in that showroom and views will
be great at any level...up front, middle, in the rear...it'll be up
to you. Get there early/choose your best location per your ticket level.
We sent to the show Monday. I had bought the Golden Circle tickets, thinking that this should provide us the best seating for the show. When I bought the tickets, I was told that seating was on a first come/first served basis within three ticket priced areas. There was a line that had started forming a little after 8 for the 8:30 show. We also saw several groups of individuals standing around that had not joined in the line and when I checked with the box office, I was told to get in the line that was forming for admission. There was no separate line based on your Harrahs card level which I have seen at other shows and the buffets (ie. Platinum and above). Because of a previous show in the Crown Theater finishing up, it seemed that seating was being delayed because the room had to be cleaned. While we were waiting in line though, there were large groups of 20 to 30 people who were allowed in. These were the groups that had been just standing around (not in the line). When we finally got to the front of the line, we and another couple were escorted to seats that were NOT on the the showroom floor nor even the first tier above it and were even off to the side. When I objected, we were asked if we were VIP's and I pointed out that we had Golden Circle tickets. The other couple had also purchased Golden Circle. We were then escorted to the showroom floor which was already almost full. After being escorted to seats that were behind objects and to seats that were on a couch with a view of the backs of other people, we were finally seated at a table in the last row of the showroom floor. The other couple had also been shuffled about in the same way and finally were given seats on the showroom floor. While we were waiting for the show to finally start, a woman was handing out coupons for a free t-shirt as a gift from the show. When I asked her about it, she stated that she was the leader for a group of international travelers that were attending the show. These were the groups that were entering the showroom without having to stand in line. Our Golden Circle tickets had an attached stub to be redeemed for the free t-shirt and when I checked a set of tickets that were on the table from members of these groups, their tickets were for VIP seating. At this point, we were really soured on our entire experience and the show had yet to start. These VIP's were also being served beverages before and during the show. We finally got up and left midway through the show. We eventually were told that the "VIP groups" were in Las Vegas on package tours that had included tickets to the show at the Plaza. Of interest, on Tuesday evening we happened to be at the Rio around 8 and saw a line of people forming to patiently wait for admission to the show and also again saw several groups waiting (not in line).

Well that isn't good!...I know the Show just got started, but they need to get their
act AND PRIORITIES together NOW.
As with other Shows in that room (SCINTAS for example), Harrah's uses it for their
special guests, time share free tickets, etc. When I walked the room a couple weeks
ago, I decided right then 'n there, I'd get a General Add. tic. They're just in back of
VIP...they view really isn't any different, and I wasn't interested in a Gold Circel floor
seat due to there's always heads in your view.
I was quite surprised when I heard they'd be first come/first serve...smelled like
problems to me...
I bet it gets nasty before it gets better and would hope they move on a better
system before too long. LIKE JULY 27th WHEN I WANT TO SEE IT!
I'll mention this negative system when I get my tic in a few days...(not that it will do
any good) but folks should start to complain NOW before it gets too out of hand.
THANKS FOR THE REPORT Sandy Paws!
Saw the show on Monday. There were no strange groups hanging around to get in. There were about 100 people in the que and it moved quick. We bought the general admission tickets and handed the MaitreD a ten spot for the two of us. That got us on the floor about three tables back from the stage.

I did see plenty of people being seated in the booths but the location didn't appear to be too bad. The show was good. The guy that does Sinatra was fantastic.
THAT'S GOOD NEWS 'rsidoti', thank for the update!

I got my tic the other day for July and talked to the
supervisor for a bit. Mentioned about the long lines
of comp/touris/whatever that went in a head of the
Gold Circle and VIP ticket holders...she hadn't noticed.
but said that wasn't the intention, that they were still
working out the system...it's just gettin' going.

In any event, RAT PACK and RIO should get their act
together soon if it hasn't already...I'm looking forward to
my night.

It's interesting you say Sanatra was so strong. RAT PACK
Shows I've seen over the years, Frank has been the weakest.
Dean and Sammy have been stronger than the Chairman...???

'rsidoti'...you mentioned the maitre'd. I was told it's all
first come/first serve no matter what ticket you hold...
what's the real deal?
THANKS, Greg
They were definately placing people in the theater. There was a head maitre'd that was passing people off to two others and directing them where to place people. It didn't look like there was any option to seat yourself.
Hmmmm, don't know, this thing is new to all of us.
When I heard first come/first serve I smelled problems.
There are not any section/seat/booth numbers in there and
I guess the maitre'd creates some sort of order as to where
the Gen', VIP and Gold Circle folks sit...sounds like a tip might
improve your location also.
GUESS I'LL SEE FOR MYSELF ON JULY 27th huh...
I saw this show twice at Sands (in A.C.) it's fabulous-- but I want to pay tops.... $30.00 and BOGO
