seeking insider tips on discount show tickets

My trips to Vegas are almost always guy trips for sports betting and poker. We don't usually concern ourselves with shows or nice dinners.

But in July I'm going to LV on a couples trip. I am still loathe, however, to relinquish my inner cheapskate.

So I looked on the Tix4tonight page and it says you can buy tickets by phone. Is there a catch to this? If not, why do people line up at Bill's hours before the ticket office opens?

Second question....I think my wife would really like to see Love. Any info on how often that show is available for weekend performances (including Sundays) and what kind of discount I can expect?

Third question....any concerns with buying the dinner deals they have?

Thanks for all replies!
On the Mirage website you can often get discounts on LOVE by entering LOVE in the promo code area.
If you can purchase tickets before you leave try travelzoo.com for some pretty good discounts.I've used them to but Jersey Boys tickets several times and have been very satisfied.
From looking at their website, it appears you can call them to see what is available, but I didn't get the feeling you could buy them over the phone. But some tips I've found helpful include:
If the line is long at Bill's, which it usually is, go up the street a bit to the outlet at Casino Royale. That's usually a pretty short line.
The line at the Four Queens is usually even shorter.
If you go often, the $25 VIP pass is a good investment. You can jump to the front of the line with that. From the website, it appears you can buy that before you go.

Goldstar.com always has good deals. I have used them a lot and never had a problem.
We have purchased the dinner deals at Tix4Tonight and were happy with the deal. Bill's is closing soon, so you may want to check on their new location.

So this is legit? You just get a confirmation code you give the box office an hour before the show? They have some good prices. My GF wants to go to Donny & Marie in April (not my cup of tea but oh well) and this site has tix for about $75

Another good option, Penn & Teller are on our radar and they have good prices, you can pick your seats now.
