Unusual Entertainment

I was thinking back on all the different shows I have seen in Vegas. But, then I recall the more unusual entertainment which I have seen.

I recall one of the most unusual things was when the Sahara had a small race track and a dirt off-road track located behind the property. You could drive GM product such as a Hummer, Silverado, Escalade or Yukon. Or you could rip around the track in a corvette, Cadillac or GTO. Of course, you had an instructor in the car with you at all times. It cost about $10 and didn't last that long, but was still rather enjoyable.

What is the most unusual entertainment activity you have done in Vegas?
Are you sure you weren't using cars from the valet service?
Ha...ha... that would be nice, especially if I was able to keep the tips! I don't think I could climb a steep hill, which was part of The Drive's off road track, with cars from the valet. Now, if we are talking rental cars, that is a totally different story. Especially if you got roped into buying additional insurance from the car rental company.
Having my Fat Tuesday drink on the water ride at the MGM amusement park, it was fun.

I think the most unusual entertainment experiences I've had were the Atomic Testing Museum and the Clark County Museum out on Boulder Highway. The Clark County Museum was only $2 to get into and was a lot of fun if you're into history, which I am. Got to see the Air Raid siren that they had restored on American Restoration, which was cool.

Went to a Las Vegas 51s game once too. I live a couple hours away from either major or minor league baseball, so going to a baseball game is not something I can easily do when I am home, and it's so not-over-the-top that it probably qualifies as unusual for Vegas. Plus the night I went, they actually had a rain delay. No one seemed to know where the tarp actually was or how to unroll it.

Guess I need to lead a more exciting life, huh???
We went to the train museum and rode the train. Not exciting but I think that qualifies as "unusual".
Any night at The Double Down Saloon is usually very unusual and very entertaining I love that place
We went on an airship (blimp) ride over Las Vegas on 10/14/2000. Airship Tours (still have the souvenir certificate). It was pretty awesome, started at sunset, about an hour of slowly and quietly gliding above the Strip, Downtown, hovered over a Bellagio fountain show, etc. The pilot would go in any direction anyone wanted. There was one other couple and one single person on our ride, so total of 5 passengers. The ride was discontinued not long afterward, something about airspace regulations, and as far as I know has not been started up again, so I'm glad we did it.

The float trip (raft) down Black Canyon from Hoover Dam was very cool also. The guide pointed out unusual flora and fauna (mountain goats, etc.). Mid way we pulled over for a boxed lunch on the shore, then resumed the float, 11 miles. Bus took us back to our hotels.

I took a horseback trail ride through Red Rock canyon a few years ago. The scenery was spectacular and it was a nice break from the crowds on the Strip. There were only two of us on the ride, so we had private tour guide who pointed out plants and animals, and shared history of the land as we rode along. Very enjoyable morning.

I've also traveled to the Grand Canyon by helicopter and descended right to the bottom, landing by the Colorado river and enjoyed a champaign lunch!

These splurges make wonderful memories. A Royal has eluded me so far....now that would be unusual entertainment!
In 1978? I would of been 20 years old. Playing BJ at the Jolly Trolley with Topless dancers about 10 - 20 feet away from the table.
