Wizard of Oz at Sphere

I remember seeing Gordon Lighfiit, Eddie Money, and Rich Little's farewell performances. Thise were worth the cost. (Though it wasn't as bad as the current cost to see a headliner.)

Amen to that.  Mine was John Denver.  Not a farewell performance but glad I saw it.  Probably not a huge price.  A rotating stage in the middle of a colliseum, folding chairs around it.  When the band took a break he stayed there and played solo.

I saw him at the Cow Palace in San Francisco many, many moons ago. A great performer and a genuinely likable guy. And he put on a LONG show; there was an intermission, and for the last half hour or so, the band retired and he played solo. Great audience interaction, great stage presence.

The performance you saw wouldn't have been a farewell performance, because he left the world's stage completely unexpectedly. He had a hobby of building and flying experimental aircraft. One day, he was flying one of his creations...and then suddenly, he wasn't.
