4th Rd Matchup Transitions Championship Justin Rose -105 vs. Geoff Ogilvy
Normally Ogilvy would be the play here, he is the better overall higher ranked player. However, here's the rest of the story.
Friday late afternoon he boarded a plane to head home to Scottsdale/ Phoenix and while on the plane waiting to take off he received calls and texts notifying him he had made the cut. The airline said they would let him off the plane but would not be able to get his clubs out of baggage. Why not, geezzz?
So, Ogilvy decides rather than stay and play with a different set of clubs, he remains on the plane and flies from Tampa Bay to Phoenix. On top of all of this he had every pair of his golf shoes and balls shipped home. He has his wife track down UPS get his shoes and meet him at the airport. He charters a private jet and he's back off to Tampa.
With little sleep and plenty of jet lag he fires a 65, which tied for the best round of the day. That's the good news. The bad news is that he is struggling with his ball striking and made all his putts in Rd 3 where he had only 24 putts total.
This will more than likely not happen again. I project he shoots 70 or more in Round Four. Rose is hitting 71% fairways and 67% greens. Ogilvy is hitting just 48% fairways and 61% greens.
