8/14 On the Pitch

8/14 On the Pitch EPL: Tottenham Hotspur/Manchester City DRAW (+241) Tottenham Hotspur/Manchester City UN 2' (-107) This should actually be a fairly conservative match. Both teams are trying to take a spot in the traditional big four (Chelsea, Manchester United, Arsenal, Liverpool), which Tottenham did last year. City have been the only big spenders in the transfer market this summer adding Jerome Boateng (Hamburg), Yaya Toure (Barcelona, Ivory Coast), David Silva (Valencia, Spain), Mario Balotelli (Internazionale) and Alexsandar Koralov (Lazio, Serbia). It will take some time for the new City players to gel with the current talent. Tottenham knocked City out of a spot in the UEFA Champions League late in the season. Tottenham has a game in three days against Swiss club Young Boys in the Champions League playoff (to advance to Round of 32). Both teams may not have their best form and play for a draw. Aston Villa (+108) West Ham will battle to just survive relegation. Villa may be in disarray with the resignation of manager Martin O'Neill early in the week, but they still have enough to win here. Everton (+151) Everton finished 8th last year and would have had better had they been healthy. They are healthy to start the season. Bolton Wanderers (+124) Roy Hodgson is one of the best managers in the EPL, but now he is gone from Fulham to Liverpool. Owen Coyle vs. new Fulham manager Mark Hughes is a mismatch. Sunderland (+128) John Netto has been all over this one. Birmingham City overachieved last year. Ben Foster replacing Joe Hart (now w/ Man City) at keeper is a downgrade. Wigan/Blackpool OV 2 & 2' (-110) Wolves/Stoke City DRAW (+226) West Bromwich Albion (+2) (-107) Defending Champs Chelsea vs. a team that won their way back into the EPL. Chelsea is out of form right now and W.B.A. will have their best effort here. Kind of applying my capping from other sports here. Go against the previous champ in season opener. Hope it works. LIGUE 1, EREDIVISIE and MLS later on.
Thanks for sharing and good luck today...
Thanks John. Good luck to you as well.
LIGUE 1: Good start in opening round last weekend (4-2): Risky today as I take all Draws. AS Monaco/Montpellier (+216) Brest/AJ Auxerre (+217) Saint Etienne/Sochaux (+232) Valenciennes/Marseille (+222) EREDIVSIE: 2-0 in last Sunday matches Ajax/Vitesse Arnhem UN 3' (+102) Ajax had a 2-0 lead at Groningen with only 30 minutes left and conceded two late goals. They just advanced on aggregate over Greek team PAOK in Champions League qualifying, but allowed four goals in the two games. Ajax is in the final qualification stage in Champions League (to get into the round of 32) against Ukranian team Dynamo Kyiv and I expect them to play a little more conservative and use this game to tighten up their defense in preparation for that match. AZ Alkmaar (-1) (+120) AZ/Groningen UN 2' and 3 (-116) VVV Venlo/Heracles Almelo DRAW (+225) Twente (-1) (-127)

MLS: Philadelphia/Colorado DRAW (+242) Philly got some confidence drawing with RSL on Wed, even though RSL rested a couple starters. Colorado plays a plodding style as well. LA Galaxy (PK) (+123) New York/Los Angeles UN 2' (-122) LA has been the best team all year in MLS, but have struggled lately. NY added Henry and Marquez and they look like the best team now. I think the Galaxy get right here and show who is boss. FC Dallas (+164) New England (+151) Seattle (PK) (+126) Seattle (+229) Seattle has never beaten Chivas at Home Depot Center. No time like the present as the Sounders have found their way after early struggles.
BRAZIL: Palmeiras (-1/2 & -1) (-108) Botafogo (+181) Botafogo (PK) (+102) Guarani (+1/2) (+120) MEXICO: Santos Laguna (-1) (+104) San Luis/Monarcas Morelia (+234) DRAW
