The Barclays

The Barclays The start of the Fed Ex Cup Chase is this week with The Barclays, at Ridgewood CC in Paramus, NJ. Heath Slocum is the defending champion and that should tell you allot. You cannot over-power this track. An A.W. Tillinghast design, classic along the U.S. Open courses as in Winged Foot and Baltusrol are usually tree lined, long and straight. The weather could be a major factor this week, as it is raining now there, softening up the fairways will make it play longer, but the greens more receptive, however I still believe accuracy off the tee is important. We bet Furyk over Els, but Furyk missed his Pro-Am tee time this morning and is subsequently DQ'd. Rory McIlroy -130 vs Tiger Woods Tiger's divorce has gone through and 9 out of 10 questions that he answered today after his practice round were about exactly about that and not golf. You have extra gossip media here this week and so far have been allowed on the property. He has the first tee time on Thursday which is very unusual and has to play with also rans Cameron Beckman and Troy Matteson. If it rains more today or tonight the course will be so wet and long that approach shots could fly anywhere, possible mud on the balls as well. Rors opened his big mouth last week to the media that he would relish playing against Tiger in the Ryder Cup because Tiger's game is nowhere, where it should be. If they get in the same pairing on the weekend, which I doubt will happen, Rors will have to step it up a notch or two. Regardless, Rors is playing and has finished much better than Tiger over the past month, this is a no brainer matchup play IMO and would have played it at -150 or less.
found rory v tiger @ -140
Thanks Alf! I got down at -1.35....
at what price would Tiger be a value bet

One of my sites has -180. The other not much better at -170.
I have a drawer full of value tickets. We are not betting on Tiger any time soon, no buy back here.... if he misses the cut his Fed Ex Cup chase is over and he is done for the year sans the Ryder Cup, which about now probably sounds good to him. If he doesn't play well round one especially with the new swing changes he's done IMO.
I have a drawer full of value tickets.
A VERY good point for me!! Any interest in Phil over Tiger at -165??
As always, thanks for sharing Alf. I hope you get a chance to stop by Teddy's party on Saturday as I want to intro you to my g/f. Good luck with the play this weekend...
Phil is hit and miss this year. Pass.
at what price would Tiger be a value bet
If I made the true line -150 in a golf matchup, then the dog would be +135 (at pinny). I would step in on the dog at +155, but this is just the way I play it in golf matchups, which is quite different than other sports in terms of 'value'. Good Luck ed.
