Belmont Stakes My Kentucky Derby horse Shackleford paid handsomely in the Preakness. It was the right distance cutting back for him AND he battled the wind angle in the Derby, something few cappers know anythng about at Churchill Downs.
Now at Belmont with a SEALED MUDDY TRACK as of this writing and speed holding well in 3 of the first 4 races, I have to back Shackleford again. On a fast track and a mile and a half distance, I thought Animal Kingdom would surely run him down. But we keep reading that Animal Kingdom does not like dirt kicked in his face, how is he going to react with mud slapped in his face?
Shackleford is approx 7-1 odds. We like trainer Dale Romans' style of training, 2 miles everyday, training hard, fast....reminds me of Alfeet Alex.
