BMW Championship We are very busy this week, NFL, NCAAF, CFL, golf etc, just a couple of quick notes.
The BMW Championship has the Top 70 players in the Fed Ex Cup standings. There is no cut this week. In order to WIN the Fed Ex Cup and the $10 million, you have to be in the Top 5 GOING into the Tour Championship. So, we may see many bad rounds this week as guys will surely be out of the chase after two rounds. Even just to get into the Tour Championship your spot in the race needs to be planted early...which brings us to our first bet.
Will Tiger Woods tee off in the Tour Championship?
No -185.......I would play this prop at less than -200.
There is a chart on-line at pgatour.com that breaks down the Fed Ex Cup standings and their likelihood to advance to the Tour Championship. The current Top 20 players are pretty secure to advance no matter where they finish this week.
Tiger needs to get into the TOP 5 to advance to the Top 30 and the Tour Championship. So basically you are betting that he won't finish in the Top 5 this week and I would say that is a solid play at -200 or less.
Yes, he's had two good weeks back to back and he is working hard on his new swing, but IMO he had to show some decent form just to be a Ryder Cup Captain's pick. Realistically, he cannot win the Fed Ex Cup, so after being named on the Ryder Cup, he might coast if he is not near the lead and take the next 3 weeks off and relax before the Ryder Cup.
Bo Van Pelt -135 vs Jeff Overton
Overton could not hit the ocean if he fell out of a boat. He missed the cut last week and was T56 at the Barclays. It seems he is just showing up for his sponsors and now that he made the Ryder Cup, he can not work as hard.
BVP shot four rounds under par last week at the Deutsche Bank event and always seems to be in the hunt come Sunday.
