Boxing Parlay (7/9)

Boxing Parlay (7/9) Cintron vs Molina Cintron is coming off a 14 month layoff after his less then stellar performance against Paul Williams. I think we lost on that fight when he fell/dove out of the ring in the 4th round. Cintron is a flake. He now moves down in weight class to face Molina. Molina most recently KO'd Conyers a washed up fighter and prior to that he fought Lara to a draw in a fight he should have won. Even with the layoff this is, at least in my mind, a mismatch. Molina isn't in the class of Cintron. In the last 3 years, Cintron has fought to a draw against Sergio Martinez, beat Angulo and was likely winning against Williams. Cintron will have a height and reach advantage and a big power advantage. Williams vs Lara Williams is coming off a devastating KO by Martinez. Lara is a former Cuba National that defected to the USA. The only question in this fight is how the KO effects Williams mentally. If he fights at 80 percent of what he was, he'll easily win this fight. Lara has decent power and it may be that Williams' chin was exposed. I doubt it. I think that KO was a perfect shot that Williams never saw coming. In my opinion, it was likely the only way Martinez was going to win that fight. Martinez would have gassed out because of the pace. I don't think that Lara is anything special. If Williams' mind is right this is another mismatch. Williams was a top P4P guy recently and Lara isn't. 1.18 units to win 1 unit. Williams and Cintron in a parlay. GL
Best I could do was 1.4 to win 1 but count me in Tru.
AT 12:15 CST, 1.23 to win 1 was still available at Bodog.
Cintron looked terrible and lost to a guy he would have handled easily two years ago.

After watching the interviews with Williams and his trainer pre-fight I wish I could have bailed on this fight. These guys talked about how they didn't need to do anything different after his Martinez knockout. They also stated that they didnt agree with the experts that Williams should use his height and reach and play some defense that he was just a flat out warrior who is offense oriented. Buffoons! Guy has a foot on Lara and tries to go inside. Finally, they stated that he just wanted to retire and didnt want to fight too much longer as the country boy already had enough money and real estate investments. Wish he would have before this fight. Seems like we lose a lot of these 3 to 1 type favorites that are on TV. Selective memory or some truth?? Wow!! They just robbed this Lara kid!! Happy to win my bet but that was just crooked. Not even close!! Hope you watched Tru. Would love to hear your analysis.
NO it wasn't a robbery. Listening to the announcers leads you to think it was a robbery. They where sucking Lara's dick most of the fight. Williams dictated where the fight took place almost the entire fight. The fighters would tie up on the inside and Williams would land 10 times more punches. Most of Lara's landed punches where pot shots. Pressure fighters often get the benefit of the doubt on close rounds because they are applying the pressure. Yes Williams is fading and should really consider retiring. I'll save the tape on this fight and watch it again tomorrow. Maybe it will chance my mind. I wouldn't have argued if Lara had won a close fight. For me anyway, I can completely ignore the announcers while a fight is going on.
Thanks Truu. You are right about the announcers. Roy Jones was saying they should stop the fight so Williams doesnt get hurt and Max said it "stinks". He says everyone on press row had Lara winning from 10-2 to 8-4. I admittedely know little about boxing scoring so I appreciate the counter opinion.
Just watched it again. 6 rounds to 4 for Williams with 2 rounds 10-10. There where at least another 3 rounds that could have gone either way. A close fight in my mind. Lederman say they should have better judges. Maybe. This wasn't a title fight. Three judges combine for 247 fights, including 26 title fights. It could be A LOT worse. Maybe I'm off on my analysis. A ton of people think it was a robbery.
