Boxing Parlay (9/3 and 9/10) This weekend we get a "treat". The return of Andre Berto.... Berto is fighting Jan Zaveck for his IBF title. Berto is coming off his first loss against Ortiz. It was an exciting battle with Ortiz winning in a bit of a surprise. Ortiz will face Mayweather later this year. Zaveck is a solid Slovenian fighter who has primary fought in his home country.
Since, his loss, it has been reported that Berto was anemic for his fight with Ortiz. Take that for what it is worth. He also hired Victor Conte as his nutritionist which can only help him. I see this fight as a comeback fight for Berto. Zaveck, while a solid type of fighter, is 35, has slow hands and slow feet. He occasionally leads with his jab and loves to throw an over hand right. He's looked good against faded fighters and other slow guys. Berto is lightning fast. While he's shown some deficiencies, I think he's clearly a class above Zaveck. There are serious boxing guys who think that Zaveck will win this fight and possibly by KO. If Ortiz couldn't KO Berto, Zaveck has almost no chance to do so. He'll find it very hard to fight Berto in the ring. The question is will Berto be able to stop Zaveck. I don't know. The odds are at least -500 for Berto. I like Berto in a one sided fight. He's the "home" fighter, he's far flashier and the judges will likely reward him for his skills.
The second half of the parlay.
Vitali Klitschko vs Tomasz Adamek.
What you need to know. Klitschko is getting old. Adamek is a blown up light heavyweight. (that is 175 pounds) Adamek is reported to be at 215 for this fight. Klitschko will be his normal 250 pounds of solid muscle. Klitschko will have a 6 inch height advantage and a 5 inch reach advantage. Last time out, Adamek went 12 rounds with Kevin McBride. F'n KEVIN MCBRIDE!!!
Will this finally be a fight that Klitschko loses? Not likely. Adamek, can try to run circles around Klitschko and he might even steal a few rounds. The problem is that this is the wrong Klitschko for him. This is a nasty Klitschko. Last time Klitschko was in a close fight he lost. That was 8 YEARS AGO against Hall of Fame fight Lennox Lewis. Adamek is available. (that isn't a flattering term for a fighter.) He eats jabs like they are candy. Adamek had okay power at 175, at Heavyweight it is noticeably lacking. So how does Adamek win the fight? His only chance is to outbox Klitschko for 12 rounds. It simply isn't going to happen.
2.64 units to win 1 on the parlay.
