Casper's Touch

Casper's Touch Sunnyisle, you were asking about Casper's Touch in the Fountain Of Youth, and i just got done looking at him. Can't say i'm too crazy about his chances tomorrow. He was extremely rank along the backside in his latest start, throwing his head around and fighting Leparoux who was doing his best to keep the horse under restraint. That probably took some of the starch out of him, and he was checked quite hard coming off the turn, but he was racing in the clear for a good bit approaching the turn for home and had every chance to make his move, but he appeared to be spinning his wheels and failing to make an impact even before the checking incident. It's also worth noting that his race came on the same card as the Donn Handicap (and at the same distance), and the Donn, although clearly a better-caliber race, was run about 9 lengths faster than this one was. Going a bit further, note that Casper's rider (and McPeek's main rider) Leparoux is jumping ship here in order to ride Bowman's Causeway, whom he's never even ridden before. Casper's new rider Solis has had a good bit of success with McPeek, but this still has to be viewed in a negative light. Seems like a decent colt that is perhaps better than he showed last time out, but he really looks up against it here vs. this level of competition.
thanks for for the write up.
