Chisora vs Fury (7/23) This Saturday, Dereck Chisora defends his minor British belts. He is fighting Tyson Fury. Both of these fighters are undefeated over 14 bouts. Both seems to have good power as Chisora has 10 KOs and Fury has 9. Fury is a giant of a man. Standing 6' 9" tall and reportedly has over an 80 inch reach. Chisora is short for a Heavyweight at 6' 1" and has a 74 inch reach. Chisora is older at 27, Fury just turned 23.
This fight will have an obvious contrast in styles. Fury should fight tall from the outside, using his jab to keep Chisora at the end of his punches. Chisora needs to get to the inside to overcome his disadvantage in size. Though many talk about the effectiveness of Fury's jab, I haven't seen it. He doesn't seem to use it often enough and often times ends up fighting far to close to his foes. This is a function of his poor balance, poor cardio and the tomato cans he's faced to this point. Chisora, who has only faced slightly better opponent but no one ever as big as Fury. Chisora shows good movement and the ability to bend at the waist to avoid punches while moving forward.
Fury has poor cardio, it is often something that men his size simply cannot overcome. He claims he is in the best shape of his life for this fight. I still have my doubts.
Similarly, Chisora has shown less then good cardio. Though in his last fight, he still looked good in 9th when he finally stopped Sexton.
I see the better athlete winning this fight. I think that initially that he may struggle a bit getting past Fury's jab but not for long. Fury doesn't fight tall and carries his left hand at his waist. I do not think that Fury is ready for a guy like Chisora and I don't ever think that he'll be much of anything. Chisora likely will never be a true champion but I think he's better then Fury.
Chisora is sitting at -140. This line has moved down a bit of late.
1.4 units to win 1.
