Columbus/Chicago NHL tonight Got to go back to Jack(et) off again.
Jackets got beat on Thursday on the road in Buffalo although they were tied in the last 10 minutes. The Hawks played last night and lost 3-0 at home surely they'll be in a motivated state to knock off the Jackets at home.
But the price reflected that and I laid off the Jack(et) offs at +1.5-160 but it has been dumped to +1.5-145 and I was able to get it filled at an exchange at +1.5-140.
These teams see each other alot. Although Chicago will be motivated they are on a back to back. They played poorly last night. The Jackets at least with a day's rest and with the position they're in I think I'll continue to get maximum effort from them.
I do like 2 trends for line value here: (1) The Jack(et) offs have been thrown away like a candy bar wrapper as the worst team in the NHL. If my assumption that they aren't is wrong, well maybe there isn't that much line value being created from this. But I think they're closer to a whole bunch of teams that are near .500 so we're catching value as they're assumed to be horrible.
(2) I really believe the Hawks are consistently overvalued in the line. Now I must admit they surprised in the 2nd part of last year and they made that assumption perhaps not as strong as I thought it was when I originally theorized it. Nevertheless, I think I am a "little" right that they're overvalued stemming from their Stanley Cup year and some star power in a big market.
I think if you can get +1.5-150 or better not a bad bet IMO. I would take +180 on the ML I think is worth a shot here.
Mason the average goalie of the Jack (et) offs hasn't lost in Chicago if that makes it somehow more palatable this play.
