Desert Xpress, TRAIN TO NOWHERE...... DISASTER LOOMING.........RIDICULOUS High Speed Trains can make sense when connecting two very large cities that are close to each other, with key Downtown Areas.
Connecting Victorville to Las VEGAS is a RIDICULOUS idea. EVERYONE pushing this should be ashamed of themselves........
I cannot imagine anyone wanting to take this thing. You leave Newport Beach and head up the 55........struggle in traffic for 2 hours, finally get over Cajon Pass. You hit Victorville........no train station.......hmmmm, you drive 30 more miles, almost to Barstow (your 1/2 way point of your drive from a time perspective). Huh. There is is. A train station. After being stuck in traffic for the first hour, you are now home free traveling 82 mph. Your 1 short hour from Baker, home to the world's largest thermeter and a snack at the Mad Greek. 1 more hour to the lights of Primm. Another 45 minutes and you will be checking in......
AND NOW.........these politicians want you to
1. Pull over and park (and hope your car doesn't get broken into)
2. Carry all your luggage over to a checkin area
3. Check it through and hope those )*#()#%* don't lose it.......
4. FINALLY get seated and boarded, your thinking "I'd be finishing my Gyro right now"
5. At about Primm, if all goes ok, you pass where your car would be.
6. You arrive in some Station South of M Bay. UH OH. 25 minute Cab wait! While you are waiting, your imaginary car has just pulled up to the Wynn Valet.
7. The cab driver introduces you to a new way to drive to the Wynn via the 215 to the Airport Tunnel to Swenson.
8. MAYBE your lugggage makes it...........
