Stoke will welcome Aston Villa into the Brittania Stadium today as I am playing the side which has yet to register a point for this campaign vs an Aston Villa side which has six and is in the top half of the table. However, the points on the season are very deceiving as Stoke had a heart-breaking and controversial home loss to Tottenham, where the equalizing goal was disallowed, a slug fest at League leaders Chelsea, and a road loss to emerging Wolverhampton. Aston Villa on the other hand beat bottom dwellers West Ham, were blown out by Newcastle 6-0, and despite being outplayed up and down the pitch by Everton, managed to sneak away a 1-0 win.
The biggest news for Stoke is the return of star signing Kenwyne Jones, who was picked up for a nice price from Sunderland in the summer yet injured himself in Stokes first match. He was able to use the International two week hiatus to get fit. I expect a gritty Stoke side to win this outright but we are playing them in the Asian Style so a draw simply pushes the bet.
