Foreman vs. Cotto (6/5)

Foreman vs. Cotto (6/5) Yuri Foreman the WBA light middleweight belt holder fights Miguel Cotto in Yankee stadium on June 5th. Foreman, training to be a rabbi, is the local talent but Cotto, a Puerto Rican, will have a very large fan base pulled from a very large Puerto Rican community in the New York area. Miguel Cotto, late of a few brutal fights moves up yet another weight class to take on the light hitting Foreman. Cotto, 29, now a few years removed from his best work and after so many brutal fights may be fading. Many argue that he isn't. Foreman, 29, has fought much lower level of talent but still retains his 0. (undefeated) The books have determined that Cotto will be the betting favorite and have listed Cotto around -200 for the fight. Foreman is running about +180. I think that the dog hunts in this fight. Foreman has 4 inches in height and 5 inches in reach. He has great footwork and utilizing a hit and move style. Cotto is a lefty who fights out of an orthodox stance and is basically a one handed fighter. His best work has been against fighters right in front of him. (Clottey, Margarito(Loss) and Mosley.) Cotto will be forced to chase Foreman around the ring while Foreman pot shots him, not allowing Cotto to really set his feet to land punches and when Foreman sets to throw his combinations I think Cotto will be surprised by the power. I think that Foreman wins most likely by decision. I think Cotto is on the fade and the additional weight hurts him. The bet... 1 unit on Foreman (+180) I think this line will get better as Cotto is the bigger name. GL

We may get this up around +220 or higher.

Thanks for all the work. Any hint who you might be leaing towards in the Evans-Jackson bout?? I worry about Rampage making movies. Seems like when Liddell was at his peak he started appearing on Entourage and other shows and that was the end.

I've been told by my friend that is much bigger fan of MMA, that he thinks Evans wins. I think he also said He likes Franklin to beat Lidell. I was never a big fan of Lidell. Lidell was just ahead of his time a bit. He had poor boxing skills, they where just better then the other guys at the time. He did have great take down defense. I'd still argue, teach a prime boxer, Lidell's take down defense and they would destroy UFC fighters. Though the best MMA guys are now getting top trainers in boxing to teach them. (Pierre is coached by Freddy Roach (4 times trainer of the year) now. Smart move. GL Like I said, I struggle more with MMA. Also the fighters often fight hurt without telling anyone and it makes betting on them troublesome. (see Penn showing up with a huge knee wrap) Would be very useful to have insider information.

By no means is this a recommendation.
Agree and I have officially made a wager on Foreman +159. I was hoping for the line to go up as our resident boxing expert Truushot has mentioned, but we now see smart money coming in on the underdog. Cotto has been a shell of himself since being hammered and stoned to death literally by the illegal plaster hands of the Margarito fight. His hand speed and movement has slowed down considerably. He is basically a shot fighter IMO right now. Foreman is a curious case to begin with, fighting behind the hands of the Church, but skilled nonetheless and his style is tailor made to win this fight and should use the imprint much like Pacquiao did to out-box and Foreman should out-point Cotto here.

Foreman, and trust me this fight may be brutal to watch, is a stylistic nightmare for short fighters. If you didn't bet the over I might pass on it now, Foreman is well known for "accidentally" headbutting fighters.
I'm on Foreman as well. Cotto's been through a lot of wars. The Cotto of 3-4 yrs ago would have crushed the aspiring rabbi, but this isn't the Cotto of 4 years ago.
truushot, any opinion on the green fight? much appreciated.
