Friday Night Fights (7/29) We have two fights tonight on ESPN2.
Miranda vs Despaigne is the undercard fight.
Despaigne is coming off a bad loss where he was a bit exposed. Miranda is a shell of what he once was. This is a much higher weight class then Miranda has fought his best at. I just don't see Miranda getting the win here. I think that his punch output has slowed to a crawl and he'll simply get outworked.
Cayo vs Peterson
The line opened with Peterson being a big favorite. (I saw -300) but a few "sharps" have come out for Cayo in this fight. I don't really see it. Peterson is a highly skilled boxer and will bring the fight the entire time. You may recall that he fought Ortiz to a draw. (I think he should have lost) He had to get off the canvas twice in the third round. He went on to dominate the later parts of the fight as Ortiz simply seems to refuse to fight. Cayo last two where against bums. Previous to that he was KO'd by Maidana in 6 rounds.
This will be a fight of Cayo mostly circling and fighting from the outside and Peterson trying to get to the inside. Some think that cardio won't be an issue for Cayo, I'll believe it when I see it. He has faded in previous fights and this is a 12 round fight where a lot of pressure will be put on him from Peterson.
