Friday Night on Showtime (boxing)

Friday Night on Showtime (boxing) In what is being touted as the future of the Super MiddleWeight Division, Friday on Showtime, 6 fighters sporting combined records of 109-3 will do battle. I will focus on two of the three fights. Marcus Johnson, 24, (18 (14) - 0 takes on Derek Edwards, 30, 25 (13) - 0 is the headline fight. It is always hard to quantify an fighter that hasn't really fought anyone. Johnson has a slightly better resume. Edwards' record is a bit of a joke. He's been fighting for 8 years and doesn't have any decent wins. As I've said before, as a fight bettor, you must ask yourself why the fight is occurring. Johnson is the younger fighter and looks to be the better fighter. For Edwards this is his last great chance to make a name for himself in boxing. He's coming off an 8 month layoff and from checking his record he's mainly been a club fighter in the South. Johnson is an up and comer. He's traveled decently, which shows that his promoter has plans for him, and he should have his way in this fight. I have no line available for this fight but if/when it comes up I'll take a look. I don't give Edwards much of a chance in this fight. The second fight features Don George, 25, 19 (17) - 0 vs Osumanu Adama, 29, 17 (13) - 1. Generally speaking, Ghanaian fighters (Adama) are tough dudes and aren't easily KO'd. (see Clottey going the distance with Pacquiao) I have little to no information about Adama but that doesn't necessarily dissuade me from betting the fight. I've seen George fight in person and while I don't think he'll ever be a Top 5 Super MW, he a very good boxer with a ton of power. I look at this fight and I ask myself why is George fighting this guy. Its about rankings. George and his team want to progress but don't want to take a fight that is to difficult at this stage. George is rates by Boxrec at the 49 ranked SMW. So his promoter looks at all the fighters ranked 20th to 60th. He's look for a "ranked" guy but one that will make a decent fight but that is beatable. They select a few fighters, they see which one they can make a fight with. They end up with guys like Adama. (ranked 56th) I was going to attend this event, but I then discovered it was on Showtime so I'll save a few bucks and watch it on TV. Nothing beats live boxing and if this wasn't on TV I'd shell out the 100 bucks for front row and go watch the fights. Again no line yet available for this fight and there may not be any but if we can get a line and it isn't to terrible we should bank on George winning this fight. Lets hope for lines late tomorrow.
Excellent write ups Thanks for the time and effort. Let's hope for some lines. Good Luck
thanks for posting, truushot. will be checking in for any plays.
Johnson is -1300 and George is -450. I'd look to set up some kind of parlay if you are interested. Johnson, George, Huck, Alverez, Ponce de Leon and Mayweather in a parlay gets 100 to win 119. Add a bit of risk with Hasegawa an incredible Japanese fighter at a decent number the reward jumps to 100 to win 256. Toss in Aoh (Ao) and you get 100 to win 335. Takahiro Ao (listed as Aoh on Bodog) is boxing in Japan and with the home court advantage should be a winner as well. Bet these with a great deal of care though I can't see any of those fighters losing and they all fight either Friday or Saturday. There are so many fights this weekend it is hard to do write ups. If you are willing to pay, get the Mayweather fight. Alverez is on the undercard and this guy looks to be a really special fighter. So the bets, and we will track these as well. .5 units on Johnson, George, Huck, Alverez, Ponce de leon and Mayweather. (Parlay) .5 units on Johnson, George, Huck, Alverez, Ponce de leon, Mayweather and Hasegawa. (Parlay) .5 unites on Johnson, George, Huck, Alverez, Ponce de leon, Mayweather, Hasegawa and Aoh (Ao). (Parlay) 3 units on Mayweather and Alverez. (Parlay) GL

Three fights tonight, the hardest may be Ponce de Leon even though he's -700. We also have the 3 unites on Mayweather and Alverez Parlay. Not to Mention the 2 Units on Mayweather. Lots of action tonight on the PPV of the year so far in boxing.

Ponce de Leon won a close fight and Alverez at 19 is a fantastic prospect and looks more polished then any 19 year old I've ever seen. He won in a 9th round TKO (referee stoppage). So those following my plays, lets root Mayweather on!!!

The two parlays we lost where because of one fighter losing. 7-1 in picked fights. Record updated in the Mayweather vs Mosley thread.
