George vs. Sierra (7/30)

George vs. Sierra (7/30) ESPN Friday Night Fights. This is a fight between two bomb throwers. George who, I've seen boxer twice live, has very good power, even though he claims to hit equally as hard with both hands, it is predominately right handed power. Sierra, who's only good opponent, Edison Miranda, KO'd him in the FIRST round but has an 83% KO rate over 24 fights. So this obviously should scream UNDER. (George is anywhere from -900 to -1200 to win) For some reason I just think that at +180 is a great price for OVER 6.5 rounds in this fight. George's first above average opponent, Osumanu Adama, managed to lose a unanimous decision in an 8 round fight. This fight could easily be over in the first round, I just think that Sierra will need to fight a smarter fight then he did in his loss to Miranda, and I know George doesn't have the power Miranda had. Call me crazy, everyone seems to be on the under. I'll go against the grain and cautiously recommend the OVER. One unit to win 1.8 units on George/Sierra OVER 6.5 rounds. The way this prop bet has been written about in the boxing circles screams for the under, yet the price is only -185 on Bodog. Something seems fishy here.
I've been interested, boxed amateur (non sanction stuff), watched and wagered on boxing for about 30 years. I cannot recall an ending as bizarre as that. George the overwhelming favorite was getting his ass kicked. At the end of the 7th round, and within a split second, Sierra lands a clean shot after the bell and George is on "queer street". Queer Street When a boxer is dazed from getting hit hard on the head or has taken too many punches to the head he is said to be on Queer Street or taking a walk on Queer Street. The referee rules immediately that the punch was after the bell. I step out for a smoke, thinking that at a minimum, that George gets 5 minutes to recover and that the fight would continue. It seems his corner didn't take the entire 5 minutes. The referee ruled that the punch didn't stop the fight. The commissioner deducts two points and they go to the score cards. Now maybe the rules in Oklahoma are different from the rest of the world in boxing, but the fight should have ended in a DQ, or a TKO. Under no circumstances should they be going to the scorecards. I think the fight ended from the punch. Was it an illegal punch? I doubt it. It should have been ruled a 2 point deduction and if the referee ruled that the punch didn't stop the fight, it is a TKO loss for George. Scorecards???? WTF.
