Golf Matchup 4th Round Bob Hope Classic [B]John Senden -120[/B] vs. Rod Pampling Senden overall a better player than Pampling and this week his stats are superior as well. Senden 80/28/80 Pampling 78/30/79....which is Fairways % avg, Putts per round and GIR (Greens in Regulation). Senden No.#1 on the PGA Tour in GIR LY, which is an amazing feat because Tiger has led that stat for most of his career. Another stat that we really like in this matchup is Final Round Scoring Average. Senden ranks 44th on Tour, conversely Pampling ranks a distant 144th.

At what point do you stop liking the matchup? For example I am seeing -140 at my only out that takes golf matchups. Quite a jump from -120. Thanks

This is an excellent question Burger. And we all will have problems getting all the matchups we want because the lines move so fast and all it takes is a nickle to move a matchup 10 cents. It is hard enough to beat 30 cent lines to begin with, let alone having to tack on another 10-20 cents to get on that matchup. [B]Note: On Wednesdays at 2pm when I start posting the regular tournament matchups here at LVASports, there will be matchups that I post that will move 80 cents! Usually before that point the sportsbook will take the matchup down. My golf matchups have been monitored by linemakers and sportsbooks for years, and if they sniff that we are coming they take it off the board.[/B] So, how do we deal with it? Well, you could middle the matchup and take a position to make money on both sides of the matchup. I personally have found it to be not as profitable, given the high percentage that we hit betting golf matchups. My suggestion is this, and I had to deal with this at Vegasinsider for 12 years. If you can get the same matchup within 15 cents, it has turned a profit long term for me and my clients in the past. 20 cents or more I would pass.

Alf, could you name a few of the sportsbooks you play matchups at? So far, the only place I've seen your matchups is The Greek. Seems like the matchups offered there are unique to The Greek only.

Sam, I cannot disclose specific information where I bet golf matchups for obvious reasons. See the above post. So far I have only posted 2 matchups. I will say that the majority of matchups that I bet should be found at all the major books on-line....thegreek, Pinny, Matchbook, Cris, 5-dimes, etc. It is a huge advantage to have many outs betting golf matchups for that very reason. Some will have a different matchup. We have Senden over Pampling today, but I also saw Ryan Moore over Pampling and played Senden the better ball striker. I hope this helps.
