Golf threads restored

Golf threads restored There's been a furor on the 2+2 message boards about our deletion of "losing threads" on this board and how it's a master part of our master scam, or some such BS. What's going on over there is that several who have either had comps rescinded here, or have just plain been evicted, are coming together to try to get some payback. It's pretty ugly, with bunches of first-time posters suddenly showing up to pile on. As is the case with just about every other message board on the Web, they're allowed to say whatever they want without substantiation, while simultaneously ignoring corrections to their misstatements, putting incomplete and out-of-context quotes, and attacking anyone who doesn't take their side. All it does is make me love our model more, where the Internet thugs aren't allowed in. The big deal over there seems to be about our deleting threads that had losing golf picks. (Or "loosing" as a couple of those morons write.) The threads were eliminated to open the way for a discussion of the ensuing tournament. I honestly don't know what the results of the picks in those threads were and I never considered that anyone would care. But apparently even some here did not want them taken down. I had to think about this, because I refuse to let that group dictate what we do or don't do here. But I also don't see any reason why they shouldn't be available to view and being stubborn about it to spite them makes no sense. After looking back, we found three deletions (Bob Hope, Farmer's, and Hyundai, I think) and they've been restored. Trust me, that's as far as I go to satisfy anyone outside of LVASports. I will continue to delete posts that break the rules and evict posters who do not heed warnings. As for the self-important bullies at 2+2, fuck 'em. It's because of them that we started this. Let me know if I've missed something here.
After looking back, we found three deletions (Bob Hope, Farmer's, and Hyundai, I think) and they've been restored.
Any ideas what happened to cause these deletions? IMO it was a good idea to restore the threads.
Yes, they were physically deleted. No specific reason for it that I know of other than to open the way for the next thread. In retrospect, locking them would have been better. So we learn and remedy.
When you mentioned "loosing," I just had to LOL. Ironically, some of the most knowledgeable people on this board are the absolute worst when it comes to spelling and grammar. Around here, I guess math is more important than English anyway. For my $25 a month - "just win baby." Well written sentences don't cash tickets.

If they did, I wouldn't need a day job.
Wow. So, in a manner of 9 days since the original 2+2 post taking issue with LVASports, 2+2 has decided to "end [its] relationship with the Las Vegas Advisor." So much for not negotiating with terrorists (the 2+2 posters). They (the 2+2 posters) did the same thing to RAS. It's amazing to me how, at a free forum such as 2+2, the inmates are allowed to run the asylum. It's shocking to me also that the 2+2 posters cared so much about shutting down Las Vegas Advisor's advertising over there. It's as if they own stock in the company. Instead, they are getting something for free (access to the 2+2 message boards), and still feel they have the right to tell 2+2 how to manage its website or run its advertising. A lot of what was going on over there sure seems like sour grapes, but, admittedly, I don't follow the golf posts here, so I don't know whether their criticisims re: golf post deletions are valid. Nonetheless, it sure comes off like the 2+2 posters are outrageously territorial, and don't want any "outsiders" about whom they don't approve polluting their precious free message boards. Will 2+2 in the future run all of its potential business dealings past the posters and obtain prior approval? What is apparent is that most of the 2+2 posters have no idea how to run a business, and no concept of how the marketplace works. If a product is bad (i.e., RAS or LVASports, as alleged by the 2+2 posters), market forces will natuarlly eliminate it. Instead, some of the posters spend hours literally writing and responding and writing and responding ad nauseam about things like this site. Where do they find the time? What else do they do for a living? Why do they care so much if people they have never met join this board? Do the 5 posters there slamming LVASports just happen to be the 5 nicest people on the planet? Like I said, it just feels like sour grapes. It's all so bizarre to me. If you think people here play games with their picks, I suspect it's fair game to post that sentiment, but leave it at that. If you have to say something twice, that means you didn't say it well enough the first time. It's like yelling in english at someone who speaks Chinese because you think the yelling will make him/her understand you. To take a sledgehammer to Mason Malmuth's door repeatedly denouncing 2+2's decision to let Las Vegas Advisor advertise on 2+2 is ridiculous. Such vitriol is just so foreign to me. PS Sorry for the spelling errors, if any, above.
Yes. It's amazing. I never asked to advertise there. Mason asked me to post in an ad arrangement and I wasn't crazy about the idea. I told him there'd be trouble and they sluffed it off. When trouble began, they continually called me and said they'd stand behind. Then they pulled the plug WITHOUT TALKING TO ME FIRST. That's weakness of the highest order -- and they're questioning our integrity. Lesson learned. Whoever wants that shit can have it. Glad to be rid of them all.
Cizzle, great post, btw. Yes, essentially five people. Yes, hours and hours spent like there's nothing else of importance on the planet. There's simply no time to fade it, even if I wanted to.
Cizzle, great post, btw. Yes, essentially five people. Yes, hours and hours spent like there's nothing else of importance on the planet. There's simply no time to fade it, even if I wanted to.
You can't fade it - it's impossible. In the world of message boards, no one can ever have the last word because you can just keep repeating yourself over and over, and most readers aren't smart enough to understand that you simply aren't saying anything new or in further support of your argument. Most readers think that repetition breeds force and strength, when, in reality, it is distracting and annoying. The absence of the repetition on this board is one of things that makes it good. I think it's because the posters here are more sophisticated. That's a direct result of the $25/$199 fee, and LVA should be commended for that. I would encourage anyone posting at other sites to take a little extra time crafting your first posts and get them right. Then, when the bullets start flying, have a template saved somewhere that you can fill in that says something like: "I stand by my original post. I clearly, accurately, and completely stated my position. I trust you have as well. We should leave it to the readers to come to their own conclusions." If valid, new points are raised, acknowledge them, and respond, but remember, shorter is better, and being an a$$hole gets you nowhere.
Yes, we are more sophisticated here and that is why I would like to add... It's National Margarita Day!! WhooHoo!!!
