Good to have you here, DC. Is your website still up and running? Kluggie
Thanks Kluggie. And yes, the pick/analysis i posted the other day was straight from the site.
DC how is the state of racing in the state of New York? I read where the NYTRA had to be given a cash injection at the end of May for the Belmont meet to finish and Saratoga to host it's meet. Hollywood Park numbers were down 10 percent in handle and attendance. Do you have any suggetions as to increase purse money. The late racing Icon Blane Schvaneveldt who won 12 straight training titles (quarter horses) at one time said "everyone use to own a race horse and it was fun, it isn't fun any more, people can't afford to race one the purses aren't near high enouph to cover training expenses".

NYRA will be fine as soon as the slot franchise is awarded for the Aqueduct casino. Unfortunately, the thing has been dragging on endlessly and has turned into a total clusterfuck. The franchise was awarded and then stripped due to some alleged political corruption (imagine that), and the last I heard, three groups were competing to fill the gap, and two of them have been disqualified from the bidding process due to some non-compliance issues. The remaining bidder is based outside the US, I believe, and the process is still ongoing.
NY racing might recover, but Illinois racing won't. Without the slots (and they're not coming anytime soon), the Chicago circuit drops another notch every year. Arlington's down 40% this year, and there's talk about not racing at all next season. A few years ago, my family had a couple horses (pacers). Now, with these lousy purses, forget it. You're guaranteed to lose money, and where's the fun in that.
