The Greenbrier Classic and Irish Open Kyle Stanley -130 vs. Troy Matteson
I may regret saying this but I believe Stanley has as much talent as just about anyone on Tour that I have seen this year. Yes, he sprays the tee ball, but the fairways at the Old White Course, (now renamed The Old White TPC), are very generous and Stanley can go low everyday. His iron game is very unique in that he keeps the clubface square through the hitting zone as much as Moe Norman and that is saying allot. Recall that last year here at the Greenbrier Classic, Stuart Appleby shot a "59", well they have made the track a little tougher this year. Stanley shows a round off 68 or better in each of his last 5 starts. Matteson is 66th in GIR, Stanley is 33rd.
Simon Khan -125 vs. David Howell
The Irish Open has a great field with Rory McIlroy. Darren Clarke, G Mac etc...but we still must handicap the matchups and the some of the prices have gotten away from us here. Would have liked G Mac over Clarke after the big win, but G Mac is now around -150 and Rors is -250 vs. the Open Champion.
Khan is an Englishman who plays the Euro Tour full-time. Despite struggles with the putter over the years he is playing some solid golf right now making 4 of five cuts, including a Top 10 and last year in this event he finished T27.
Howell has had major back issues for the past several years. He has a tendency to pull out of an event when his back acts up. He has missed the cut in 5 of his L7 events and did not even qualify for the British Open in his homeland of England.
