Hello LVA Sports

Hello LVA Sports I was a poster at the original Fezzik's place, then at the "old LVASports". Many here are probably familar with my posts. I have volunteered to keep track of Fezzik's "official" football bets for the upcoming season as well as an occasion contribution involving other subjects. Hopefully this will reduce some of the uncertainty of the past season's record. It is always much easier to keep a running record than to reconstuct it after the season is almost over. I will produce a weighted and unweighted record and separate categories for different types of bets, e.g sides, total, props, etc. Any thoughts or suggestions are welcome.
Bob, As you know, we hung out together in Sparks, NV last weekend with my wife Molly. Mol and I had a wonderful time. We enjoyed every minute. Thanks for the comps to the buffet .And, I was very happy when you dropped the line "I'm now a member of LVASports". Enjoy the forums. Tim Ps. See you on Aug 21st at the usual spot.
You may also want to track the bets against the closing lines. Often posts about games happen in the middle of the night or the middle of the afternoon and many simply do not see them. In my case, I often don't see the lines until the lines have moved quite a bit. I'd also recommend, and it is something I need to do for my picks, is to give a range for the picks. Simply saying get X team at +6 when the lines can be 1/2 or more different leaves many asking if those lines are okay or just laying off bets. I realize this is more difficult and the tracking certainly should be on the line that the person recommends. Recently Fezzik posted Ohio st. at -28. I didn't see the post until the line had already moved to -29 or -29.5. I guess I or others could infer that "grab the line while you can" means that -29 isn't so good but eliminating some doubt is always a good thing.
I always appreciate it when I am told how far off I can take a line. If I can't get what is posted, I won't take it unless I am told it's OK to take it worse. I've been saved many times because I'd have lost by half a point if I had taken the worse line, unencouraged.

Well, no. Our stance has not changed. We are not a picks site. We do not keep "official records." Your tabulation will be "ComptrBob records." They may or may not carry a lot of weight, but they will not be official. The reasons are myriad and I've explained them before.
Well, no.
Well, no? What are you referring to or which post are you answering?
he was answering this post, we want something positive to read here, good information that we can put to use, te only reason someone would want to track is so they can throw it back in someone's face when they go on a losing streak, if they were to hit 65% you wouldn't even here from them. Were about being positive here so compBOB take that enery you would spend tracking and put it towards something we can use each week, each game this year and will let you stay.
Yes, I'm not, in any sense, keeping an official record. I used "official" as an adjective to modify those Fezzik selections that he lists as weighted "plays" or "picks". Fezzik, himself, uses those exact words in his threads. My reference to "official" is meant to distinguish these plays from "leans", "watch", or "conditional" (line move to X becomes a play). Incidentally, I find nothing wrong with Fezzik posting a "lean" or "conditional" play. Just won't be including these plays in the record.
While I agree 1000% with Mose about keeping the site positive and not throwing stuff back in people's faces, I also see a lot of value in keeping a record of one's picks. I, as a novice to this site, put a lot more faith, rightly or wrongly, in a person's handicapping when I can see how they have been doing. For example, if Alf has been killing college football but not doing well in the CFL then I may put more value on his college analysis and recommendation. As Anthony stated this is not a picks site so Alf or Fezz not keeping their own records is understandable. It also takes time that I would rather see them use for handicapping. The other problem is that anyone keeping track of picks can manipulate the data a bit to slant the perception of the record. For example, using the last week, month etc although if consistently done this smooths out. All that being said I think that if someone wants to take the time to tabulate the info then it should be encouraged and the reader can evaluate the info on his own. More info is ALWAYS better. But again, dont use the info to be a jerk!!
Yes, I will attempt to include a representaive closing line (I currently tend to use the closing line listed by Don Best). I'll also try to give a sense of how long these lines stay available. Generally, Fezzik has been very good with hints about how bettable a game is when the line moves from its posted value. I may comment from time to time about the value lost in a particular bet.
