Hockey scheduling quirks

Hockey scheduling quirks https://www.miamiherald.com/2013/01/13/3180094/tough-slate-of-games-awaits-florida.html Florida plays five games in seven days early in the season. This happens a lot actually in this shortened, crammed season. For Florida, it happens again 2-8 March. The results will be more noticeable by then. If you take the schedules for all 30 teams and look for these scheduling quirks (especially with several on the road—for Southeast Division teams, remember that Winnipeg is a long flight), there should be some opportunities. Also, remember February has 28 days.
Thanks for the reminder. Last year, taking Winnipeg at home against an opponent playing its 2nd game in as many nights, made nice a profit.
good stuff joel and marty
The bottom line is we need to win this hockey season. Last NBA season was very good for me and the schedule played a part. I have to look forward to this NHL season. Sure. I don't know the teams as well, there is no exhibition season and they'll have a crazy schedule. That is big time opportunity. That is all you can ask for. And yes great comments on the schedule and Winnipeg. My understanding is no inter-conference games. I think I hit some wiinners on the Jets at home. I remember they beat the Bruins at home last year in a game I watched somewhere with a bet on them. I do think this will get into the original line but I also think the oddsmakers could underweight it. It is a loud home crowd with energy and I think they could bring it again. Back to back road games with Winnipeg on the 2nd night and 3rd game in 4 nights does sound like trouble.

I thought of something else. With no interconference games, start times are less random. For example, the Panthers don't have any remaining games that start before 4 p.m. until April 20/21 at 10/9:30 a.m. Those back-to-back games make three in four days and end a 4-game road trip as well. If the Panthers are in contention, these could be perceived as "must have" games, but it is also an opportunity for them to "fade down the stretch." (Clearly such phrases do not resonate with me :)) On the flip side, their latest start times are at 5, all at Winnipeg. Western Conference teams face a lot of teams in the Central and Eastern time zones (such as Detroit) so I don't know that it will feel too different for them.
