HP Byron Nelson Championship BMW PGA Championship We are posting up early again this week due to handicapping the field of 64 at the Women's Matchplay event. Hopefully we can get some decent lines there and post a few of them today.
Let get right to the matchups, lots of action this week.
HP Byron Nelson Championship
Ricky Barnes -140 vs Jason Day
Barnes has been consistent all year long, 13 events 11 cuts made. Conversely, Day 12 events only 6 cuts made and injuries too boot. Day making his first start at TPC Las Colinas.
Jimmy Walker -130 vs. James Nitties
Walker playing his best golf right now, a T3 last week. This guy always plays well in his home state of Texas, T23 and T35 L2Y here. Nitties too erratic off the tee and around the greens to beat us in this matchup.
Brett Wetterich -130 vs Greg Chalmers
Wetterich back from mulitple injuries fired 3 good rounds last week and finished T13 at the Valero Texas Open. He won this event in '06 and backed that up with a T10 in '07. I saw plenty of him last week in the coverage and he is swinging better than he was before the injuries. Chamlers is living off of a T5 finish in New Orleans, other than that he is rarely a threat to make the Top 20.
Matt Jones -120 vs Marc Leishman
Jones has quietly put together a solid season and has 2 Top 10's in his last 3 starts and a T22 LW. Leishman since winning the "Rookie of the Year" LY, has done little on the golf course, 30, mc, 41, mc in his L4. No Brainer here, current form dictates an automatic play.
Matt Jones +130 vs Rickie Fowler
Not too often do we play the same golfer in two or more matchups, we prefer to play against the same guy in multiple matchups, but this price is out of line. This should be close to pick'em. Fowler gets all the hype and the public is following it as well as in wagering circles.
BMW PGA Championship
This is a huge tournament, basically the major event on the European Tour at Wentworth, England.
Ernie Els -125 vs Paul Casey
Casey is the defending Champion, but he was in stellar form at that time last year and that was before he had the infamous rib and now shoulder injury.
Els lives on this golf course, seriously, he has a house on one of the holes. He has won no less that 9 tournaments on this golf course including 7 World Matchplay titles. Last week Els was using the Valero Texas Open as a tune up 72, 67, 69 and a 68 and finished T3. He is putting better than I've witnessed before.
Seung-Yul Noh -130 vs Darren Clarke
By now you should know who Noh is. The Korean has already won on the European Tour a couple of months ago and at the Ballantine event he backed it up with a T4 finish. Clarke, the old guard, has performed poorly for the past three years. He missed the cut again last week in the Italian Open and his best finish is a T30 in his last 5 events.
