Jacobs vs Pirog (7/31) This fight in on the under card of the Marquez vs Diaz fight.
The match up is between two fighter that are both undefeated. This is a very close fight on paper. Jacobs is easily the more offensively gifted fighter, Pirog has shown some defensive skills and they are somewhat reminiscent of Floyd Mayweather. Pirog is 30 and Jacobs is seven years younger. In many cases the older fighter, while not necessarily more experienced, can prove difficult for a young man. Without a doubt this is a step up in class for both fighters.
Watching the limited film I could find on Pirog, leads to a few conclusions. Much of his defensive movement is a pattern and it is wasted movement. It is mostly head and shoulder movement but little foot movement. He does has sneaky power and has KO'd many of his opponents. One of the biggest thing I noticed was that his opponents had a real lack of power and a lack of hand speed. Two things that Jacobs has in abundance. Pirog also has a terrible habit of stopping his movement when he's attacked and looks to be open to his narrow frame.
I think this will be a good fight but I'm leaning to Jacobs. Will some hesitance, I'm recommending Jacobs.
