Juan Manuel Lopez vs Rafael Marquez (11/6) Lopez the undefeated featherweight superstar takes on Marquez the gritty veteran at MGM this Saturday. Lopez has stunning power and carries a near 90 percent KO rate over 29 fights. Marquez, certainly isn't feather fisted either. He has nearly a 80 percent KO rate over 44 fights. Lopez is a big favorite in this fight and I simply cannot understand why. Yes Lopez has devastating power but so does Marquez and Marquez is by far the more skilled boxer. Lopez has been knocked down by average fighters and I believe he shouldn't have taken this fight. I'm sitting on this one, for a few days. More later.

Nothing has changed my mind about this fight. I don't view Marquez as a live dog, I think he wins this fight but will protect that bet with an inside the distance bet on Lopez. 2 units +300 on Marquez. 3.7 unites on Lopez inside the distance. If Lopez wins inside the distance and this is likely the only way he can win we will break even. If Marquez wins we win 2.3 units. GL

Many boxing people that are right far more often then wrong have widely varying opinions on this fight. I still believe that this fight won't go the distance with Lopez winning. Marquez may be a lot older but I think he's the better technician in the ring. I don't often go against Fightwriter Graham Houston, and often make good money betting his recommendation, but I think he's wrong in this case. He's recommending Lopez inside the distance. Which I suppose is our straddle bet anyway. He's leaning to the under 9.5 in this fight but I'm getting a feeling that we may be surprised and get a technical fight that could last a long while. Lopez proved to be just a bit to much for Marquez. Marquez quit on the stool, I believe he claimed a shoulder injury. Lopez was on his way to winning though Marquez rocked Lopez more then once.
