Major Bookmaking Ring Bust across the Nation yesterday morning....
My 5Dimes account was terminated....but I wasn't using it anymore anyway.
Burger: I'm guessing the agent account you had with them (which you've spoke of a couple of times here) is the one that terminateed, correct? Also, how did you find out about the termination? Did you also have a regular and/or "non-agent" account with 5Dimes? If so, was that terminated too?
Posting a link to another site allows the owner of that other site to see who provided that link, every time it's clicked. He may not want people to know about the site for whatever reason. That said, I don't think there is such a rule, but burger was simply erring on the side of caution, for many forums have rules about posting external links.
Right, my point is that it's a violation of copyright law to post an entire article like that rather than post the link itself. I've had links to news articles like that deleted by forum owners before; it's very telling that some forum owners seem to believe their rules supersede US law, and I'd like to think Anthony's smarter than that.
It's fine to link from here to external sites and usually the best and most convenient way to do it. Link away. And to address the secondary issue, it's highly unlikely that anyone would have a problem with the posting of a single article with attribution.
Right, my point is that it's a violation of copyright law to post an entire article like that
The source, AP, was provided, so ethically it's not so bad, no matter what the letter of the law is. Don't you think you're nit-picking? How often do you violate the wire act? Wouldn't you tire of someone bringing up the letter of the law in such a case?

Had lunch with my "agent" that works under one of the men (listed in the link) yesterday aftenoon. Did you also have a regular and/or "non-agent" account with 5Dimes? lots of weird shit happening down in costa rica - with Mickey from CRIS being fingered - and the guy from BFC put in cuffs , and another guy who got sent down for few years recently who was with one of the big books in CR. feels like somebody down there is helping the feds
This operation was run by the Queens County, NY District Attorney's Office. Federal involvement seems minimal and/or secondary. You can read the District Attorney's press release at www.queensda.org. Navigate through the "Press Releases" link on the left side of the page to find releases for April 2010. The District Attorney also posted two charts there with pictures of all of the defendants showing their various, alleged connections between one another.
Yeah, this stuff is disturbing to say the least. I have money at both 5 dimes and cris and one thing I can't afford to have happen right now is for my money to be frozen in some way or confiscated. I had a very large sum at Ace's Gold when that whole fiasco went down. I hope things turn out all right and this is just not the beginning of a further investigation. Good Luck. Eddie
Cris post-ups are 100%. The govt. is the crook who can't be trusted.
