The MASTERS

The MASTERS "The Masters, a tradition unlike any other" is the motto and it is also the same for handicappers. The Masters will play to a par 72 and measure 7,435 yards. I have played a few matchups and props to date, but I'm waiting to see how much rain they get today (Tuesday) to sum up the rest of the field, because if Augusta National is soft, the course plays drastically different and the short hitters have no chance. Here are the early matchups and props: Matt Kuchar -120 vs Dustin Johnson The former Georgia Tech star, US Amateur Champ and oh ya, last year's Money List Leader is now considered the best American player, Mickelson will have something to say about that, but our money is on Kuch who is the better putter, straighter driver and DJ has a problem being too agressive sometimes. Kuch was T24 at the Masters LY, DJ 38th. Bubba Watson -115 vs Graeme McDowell Bubba is getting better with age and experience. He shapes shots like no other player on the Tour and that is a big advantage at Augusta where there are few straight-line holes. G Mac had a wonderful 2nd half last season and good start to this year and now has tailed off a bit (80 1st Rd 2 weeks ago)and I don't like his game for Augusta, has a hard time hitting a draw. Hunter Mahan -125 vs Paul Casey Mahan has all the tools to a green jacket some day and the time may be now. He keeps playing well, always in the Top 10 on the leaderboards and one particular aspect of his game that I really like is he grinds and concentrates on every shot. Casey? Where has he been this year? Too busy building his $10 million custom home in Scottsdale? Mahan was T8 LY, Casey missed the cut. Props: Top 20 Finish Matt Kuchar ....Yes -105 Luke Donald ....No....+115...missed cut, 38th and missed cut L3 Masters. Will they make the cut: Ricky Barnes ....No.....+120....has struggled all season with a bad back. more matchups and analysis later
adding 1st Round matchups Ian Poulter -120 vs Angel Cabrera Poulter if he putts well can win any tournament. He has been 10th, 20, 25 and 13th the past four years here at the Masters. Yes "the Duck" can still hit it nine miles, but he is struggling of late and there are many articles on-line about the pain he is in with dental implant issues. Sergio Garcia -115 vs Robert Karlsson Sergio has played well since his 9 month or 4 months off, it seems he has been away for a couple of years, but back in form with a T15 at the difficult Transitions event and an 8th place finish two weeks ago at Arnold Palmer's Invitational, Sergio a great ball striker should do well this week. Karlsson has missed two out of three cuts L3 and has shown nothing this season worth backing.

added 7010 J. Rose -130 vs Paddycakes, 0.75%
Alf and Dude- any thoughts on taking a flier with Baddeley to win at 40-1?
I like Badds he is getting better with the new swing changes and obviously is a fabulous putter, but this is not his course, he hits it too low for these fast greens and his record here is nothing to get excited about. 40-1 seems cheap should be 55/60-1 IMO.
I have an out at 55-1. I'll give it a shot.
added 1st Round Matchup Martin Laird -130 vs Bo Van Pelt......the difference between these two in the past two months is 20+ shots and Laird is coming off a win at the Arnold Palmer Invitational. Would prefer this in a tournament matchup, but still very inviting for 1st round.
Mahan gets it back to +1, then blows it on 17. Disappointing.
