Mayweather Fight Free Viewing Leaving dinner last night Curtis and I made a nice find for fight fans.
The Ethiopian restaurant we ate at was setting up for Sat night where they
will be showing the Mayweather/Maidana fight. The place is called Merkato
and it's a worth a visit on it's own if you like trying authentic ethnic food.
Open until at least 2am, this is the type of place that deserves local support due
to the uniqueness of the food experience and the value offered. At $29 for the two
of us we had more than we could finish in food and one beer each. You eat with your
hands and once you get the hang of it (you pretty much use the bread as your
utensil) you understand why it makes sense, plus its fun. Frequented by locals,
cabbies, and the Ethiopian community, you're unlikely to find a tourist there.
It's not a fancy place and it's in the wrong part of town for some, but if you
like exploring little known local spots, this is a good one and you get the fight
for free if you visit tonight.
Anthony has been there multiple times so he knows the food better than I.
If he has a review on the site somewhere he can provide a link. Here is the
place and location. It's East on Spring Mountain from the strip past Paradise
and before Maryland Pkwy on the right.
